Tech Thread - EitB XXVI

Btw, how does the PBEM thing work anyway?
Does anything go automatically, or do I first read mail/download attachment to proper folder - then start game, multiplayer, pbem and load game. Then play & end my turn, save game in same folder then email it to next on the list? Yup 'green' as they go.
AFAICT (never played) you just doublelcick on the save when you download it (can be done from email or a tracker).

Personally, I put the save files into the multiplayer > pbem folder in the BtS folder, though I make a new folder, so in this case it'd be EitB PBEM XXVI. Opening it from BtS should automatically load the EitB mod, too. If you can open a save file just by double-clicking on it, that's something I didn't know.
Also FTR when v10 comes out, you're going to need to either not install it or keep v9 backed up.

You can open the save directly without moving it and it opens in EitB. When you get the T0 save you have to input a password. All other saves ask you for your password before you can play. Once you finish your turn you hit the end turn button (shift+enter / red button) and the game automatically creates a new save, which you then email to the next person/to the tracker.
EitB does not overwrite saves well, so if you replay your turn you need to delete the old save. Also, you need to delete your outgoing T0 save because when you make your outgoing T1 save the game tries to overwrite the old save (T0 and T1 have the same name) and that doesn't work.
Do we have an estimate on when we will begin? Have all necessary settings been voted on and determined? Can the first post be updated with player e-mails to ease eventual diplomatic-y nonsense? Will I write something besides a question? Find out next time?
Thanks GtAngel, helpful.
(if you ever saw something here about old version, I was just a bit tired. Yup. Nothing to see here) |
