Won the MoM. Borsche is the source of those LBs Yuris found. I can only take this as a sign that Borsche intends to go to war with me at some point. I finished Engineering to allow for a more flexible roving defense on my front with him. He is about to finish Guilds and I imagine that he will upgrade or finish a few knights around that time. I've withdrew quite a bit of my Yuris force because I can't push in on him anyway (what with 21 units (4lb +13 archers) in the Hindu holy city). Mildly scary because Borsche appeared competent in war vs gavagai in pb25 so if he shows up with 25 knights, I would be in a bit of trouble.

Soooooo, the golden age may involve a lot of police state and...serfdom? I have two workshops but more than a few windmills and watermills. Staying out of slavery for a few turns is dangerous.

If you are withdrawing units from Yuris front what are your diplomatic and expansion plans in the near future?

I popped the golden age this turn that will hopefully power me through guilds, philo, and possibly paper/nationalism.

More directly answering your question, I hope to flesh out onto the islands and use rep beakers to boost me to nationalism and buffed mercantilism. Yuris is just now researching construction and only survived from some LB gifts from borsche and something like 17 archers in his holy city. He can't keep up with me or a lot of knights/cuirs in the future. I can tech to a better era for a more efficient hammer exchange.

I am somewhat worried about Borsche pushing into me (probably just paranoid), but the mids are on the border with him. I've started diverting my military builds over to him as he now has guilds and could try to attack me with knights. I think it makes infinitely more sense for him to use whatever knights he might build to attack Yuris, but looking at my score, all of my wonders, and the fact I'm in a MoM GA (the demos, they look wonderful), it is likely he considers me a potential run away. I don't think throwing a lot of knights at me will do much other than bog me down in endless war, and I think to compete with me, he should take over backline Yuristan. Borsche has a lot of defensive units on his border and I'm not interested in a slogging 1-mover war at tech parity. I did just make a super-move galley for a surprise on his back shores if he wants to mess around with me.

Of course, Yuris moved out to try and retake his front city with a whole bunch of archers, so I moved a decent amount of my forces back in to try and kill a lot of his units outside of cities where they are a complete pain in the ass to kill, what with hill, fortify, and culture bonuses abound.

Police state remains an option.

I had a epiphany concerning emancipation. I didn't realize how different and how much better it will make my civ at this point. So, rushing there now and delaying any sort of revolt. Cottage food? Yes. No food after that with Hamlet/Village/Town? Huh? At least that's what it says in the 'paedia.

In any event, I'm working a ton of mines and I want a bank for the shrine anyway, so adding the pu pu platter of commerce and hammers (and food potentially!) here and there is a Big Thing.

Yuristan is devastated. You can see his hordes of archers and his gifted LBs here.

What civics are you planning to run by the end of the GA then?

Rep/Vassalage/Caste/Merc/Pacifism

Vassalage could be Nationalism and Caste could be slavery depending on war conditions.

I stupidly forgot to revolt to Pacifism last turn along with Caste. Oh well. I did get HE built and robinson can begin 1 turning Knights or whatever I need.

I'm going to have time to do a real update tomorrow, is there anything in particular anybody wants to see from this game?

Yuris front is a cold war. Possibly could have succeeded against him if I went full bore into him. Ready to back out of this and wait for the next generation of military tech (cuirs/muskets) to fight him. Yuris is 2 turns from feudalism, I am 4 turns from Nationalism. Need to start doing what all the cool kids do around here and ready the overflow chaining for Taj.

Yuris offered peace for his enveloped border city back. He couldn't take it from me if he tried, so there's no way. Peace for 10 turns isn't ideal either, so here we sit looking at each other.

Borsche just finished paper and is now researching Education. I'm confident the Nationalism path is way better for me with pyramids. With 24 cities (and growing!) and caste, 2 scientists x 6 beakers (24 x 12) 288 raw beakers, much faster return than university beakers. But I'll probably miss out on lib doing this.
