Yeah, I know that happyness will not allow to work all good tiles at the beginning, but you will hook gold soon and 2 more happy are added if you beeline Calendar. Also, thinking long term - you have some nice tiles here, but you also have quite a few useless tiles, like peaks and desert hills. If you settle more cities, you end up with small ones. I'm not saying its definatelly bad, but it need to be considered.
Just tried this out on a run through and I like it a lot. Losing a couple of plains hills isn't really a hardship and if we're struggling for happy later we can always put a filler city in to make sure all the tiles are being worked. Also the sooner we get to the gold the better.

It was crazy pants. Everybody likes crazy pants.
On my latest rough attempts I've been fiddling with building quite a lot of warriors to allow for more whipping. Dunno if that's smart or not. Anyway, this is when I think the decision point for settling the first city occurs: Turn 24 sandbox. Although copper might change things if it appears on the hill we want to settle.

Depends a lot on what's to the East of the peaks and where the opponent is, I guess.

Turn 16
Skipped past a lion this turn - depending on how he moves I want to head back and uncover the land by the gold so we can dotmap with more confidence. Stone is interesting, but not really a priority. SE you can see a floodplains area similar to the one by our capital. I'm going to guess that that belongs to a neighbour and the stone will be contested. Getting city D down asap is looking important.
Re: dotmapping - if there isn't anything in those four fogged tiles I think a city 1N of pig is good. I'm not sure which version of city D is best or how to settle the cow and stone though.

Turn 17
I've taken a bit of a risk with the lion - do we get a free win on Monarch?

Turn 18
Survived taking one hit and uncovered another gold!
Dotmaps away!
Edit:
V1 (sorry the letters have changed )
V2
V3
Settling order is something like B->A/C->E->D/G->F in each case. B and C are both fairly slow starters, while A is quick, but in the wrong direction.
