Anyone up for an EitB SG?

Tasunke, eh? OK, I guess we can work with that. No one close to rush, seemingly, but still we can manage.

Lots and lots of flood plains. smile And multiple unique features. Too bad we should be long gone by the time magic is unlocked, there is some nice free mana from them.

Flood plains do cause unhalthiness, but the extra food they provide generally more than makes up for it. Some agrarian farms (since the tiles do not hve hammers to lose anyway) and we will have so much food that a few lost to unhealthiness won't matter.

For dot maps, that incense to the west with the flood plains looks nice. On a hill so not quite as good, but still useful for commerce and more happy cap.

What do we want to do for tech? We do have that fish at the capital -- worth it to pursue the tech for it?

Got the save, playing my set now

Unfortunately the RNG gave us a bit of a setback this turnset. I mostly just built farms with the worker and warriors in the city. I did decide to swap to Crafting, to get a headstart on the long-term process of clearing jungle, and one of our best possible city sites has a lot of forest we can chop. Ancient Chants and Exploration are both cheap enough that we should be able to get them out before we end up really desperate for them.

Turn 31: Bad news as a random event turned much of the grasslands surrounding our city into plains (temporarily). That had a big impact on our growth, also it took me a few turns to realise the governor wasn't on and we ended up staying on the plains tile instead of a normal grasslands.

Turn 36: Random event gives us some money.

Turn 38: Random event gives +1 food to the farm 1W of the cap.

Turn 39: Truffles on the jungled gems. That's going to be a nice tile once we can clear and mine it.

Turn 41: Crafting is finished, go back to Ancient Chants.

Turn 42: Plains are starting to turn back to grasslands.

Turn 45: Finish third farm, second warrior (3 total) and grow to size 4. A settler takes 22 turns atm, so I'm in favour of growing to size 5 and getting another warrior out while farming the last farm-able tile before building the settler. Also, with the amount of animals out there, I saw a griffon and a polar bear by our borders, we're probably going to want quite a lot of warriors to defend our settler.

I haven't moved anything.

superjm --> UP!

Shouldn't that be superjm is up, and I am on deck? Or at least that is what the order was before. Up to superjm. I could play, but will wait to hear from superjm.

Turns look good, despite the weather not cooperating with our grasslands. Ouch. frown At least it was termporary. I agree that we are going to need plenty of warriors to guard our settler when it moves out.

oops, fixed that. The perils of copy-paste

Took a look at the save. We have several options for additional city sites, so some expansion definitely looks to be where we should focus. Grabbing that incense to the west for the tile yield would be helpful for our economy, maybe combine with some of the flood plains?

We do have a goblin fort to the north which will be spawning enemies. frown So a good escort for our settler will be necessary, and maybe an expedition to destroy the fort at some point. We also have a dungeon nearby. And of course, the Pyre is right there; we need to be careful about an AI running a unit in and releasing something nasty right next to us. yikes

The jungle is extremely annoying. frown Some potentially really good tiles there, essentially useless for a long time. We may want to research Fishing so we can build a work boat for the fish, as the extra food would be helpful. Not usually where I would spend my beakers, but it might be worth it in this case.

I agree that the incense is probably the best tile available to us, although its desert location is unfortunate. I'd settle on the hill east of the incense, and just let the city stagnate on one floodplain and the incense. The hill between the reagents and Dragon Bones would also be a strong commerce city.

I'm glad you didn't all just decide to give up and go home after Brian's ... embarrasment. I only just spotted this thread, but an FFH SG is just the kind of light reading I enjoy while on holiday. And when back at home, for that matter.

We aim to entertain. smile And we refuse to be vanquished by game settings issues! The AIs and/or barbarians will have to destroy us the old-fashioned way! lol

I do wonder about not having met anyone yet. Most of the time the Erebus map script puts starting positions very close together. Of course, we have an early rush civ with Tasunke and the Hippus, so we are probably isolated on our own land mass. rolleye

It has been roughly two days since the save was posted, with no response from superjm. So to keep the game moving I am going to grab the save. This is the first pass through the roster on the restart, so superjm can slot back into the order once we hear something.

Off to play, hopefully to found an additional city and grow our fledgling empire. nod
