I love the analysis engine in lichess, it is really helping me.  I missed an instant win move here:

This has to be winning for White:

I still think I'll win the game but I couldn't find the insta kill frown.

I moved Bg4 hoping to draw the Knight out but too obvious

I plugged it into a computer. Rf1 and for some reason black cannot stop the threat of Qh8+ Ng8 Rxf7+. Things like that usually don't work out and the best move if Rf1 didn't work out would be Kh1 breaking the pin.

After Rf1 won't Qe6 or Nd3 block that from working? For example:

Rf1 Nd3
Qh8+ Ng8
Rxf7+ KxR

In the real game, after baiting the Knight failed I went Qh8+ to little point and then the pin became a big problem for me. I managed to extricate myself only because my opponent blundered. I definitely should have done Kh1 when I couldn't find an instant kill.

I was going to say that there is no kill shot. That is a fantastic move Golfclap

threat is Qh8 Ng8. Rxf7 Kxf7. Ng5 and mate in 9

Amazing, you can just use the queen and bishop to mate

Really spectacular, and would make for a very difficult tactical puzzle.

Mate in 9, eh? I don't feel bad for missing it smile. Can you post an example sequence?

some random line

1... Qb6 2. Rf1 Nd7 3. Qh8+ Ng8 4. Rxf7+ Kxf7 5. Ng5+ (to prevent black king to escaping to the queenside. white can still win without this but it would take longer) Bxg5 6. Bc4+ Kg6 7. Qxg8+ Kh5 8. Be2+ Kh6 9. Qh8+ Kg6 10. Bh5+ Kf5 11. Qh7+ Kf6 12. Qg6# 1-0

White is very lucky. That pin should be able to stop an instant-kill. For example if the rook was on a8; when the knight goes to g8 it would be defended and it wouldn't work.
