Would you have kept all of the cities if you'd gotten them, or would you have dealt them out in a similar style to rego (keeping some for yourself, of course)?

I responded to Rego's email, proposing that I get some cities that don't suck and that Munro and I trade some cities so that our border is more sensible.

It also does seem like the Lins are getting quite a lot of nice land. smile I would propose that the city of Garden Genius go to Munro. Then I will give the city of Nice Ninjas to Munro also (which I took but is squished up against his culture), and I can get the cities of Oompa Oompa II and Terrible Tuba.

That way Munro and I will have a more sensible border between us, instead of having two of his cities separated from the rest of his empire.

Does this sound OK?

I made an update to the turnlog for turn 201 with some builds I forgot to include.

T202/1420: Exploit gives Rego all of his cities (although he sent the same offer to me, so I would have gotten them if I logged on first). Rego proposes to split the remaining cities among those who were fighting (except Rego). Coal Plant finished in Sullla, start Ironworks. Cavalry finished in Isengard, start Cavalry. Spy finished in Wolf 359, start Confucian Temple. Munro apparently was able to break free of Dler, and offers me peace (which I accept). Bomb down defenses of Upper BetaPrime, send in 5 Airships on air strikes, and take the city with no losses. It comes with a Granary, Lighthouse, and Mint, and 141 gold pillaged. Zulu Checkpoint comes out of resistance, and starts building culture to pop borders. Spread Confucianism in Lothering. Switch Western Nexus to Culture to pop border. Draft Wolf 359.

T203/1430: Artillery research finished. Accept Sunrise's, Rego's, shadyforce's, Munro's requests for Artillery. Turn down Elkad. Accept Munro's request for open borders. Broker gifts me a great prophet, completing our prophet for scientist trade. Start researching Divine Right, due in 2t. Worker finished in Albuquerque, start Worker. Upgrade Geronimo (GG Woody III Rifle) to Infantry. Offer Nice Ninjas and Manic Mondays to Munro. Request cities of SassyMcSaserson, DontShaftRego, Exploit Demise, Oompa Oompa II, and Happy Holidays from Rego. Draft Lothering.

I think I am going to try for a cultural win. The National Park will be finished in Jund around turn 210, which will help me pump out a bunch of artists. Shadyforce should also have a National Park artist farm set up, I believe. I think my three legendary cities will be ChironBetaPrime, Thangorodrim, and Jund. The first two will have a bunch of cottages, and Jund will be running a bunch of artist specialists. I may generate a great merchant and found Sid's Sushi for additional culture, but that would mean I would have to switch out of state property and my expenses would skyrocket.

I'm researching Radio right now and will probably try to build Cristo Redentor- being able to switch civics with no Anarchy will likely be very useful for a Culture win (for example, so I can whip cultural buildings but still have Caste system most of the time to produce great artists). I am building Ironworks in Sullla right now, and when it finishes (which will be before Radio) I will have over 120 hammers per turn in that city, so I think I'll probably be able to get Cristo Redentor.

Broker mentioned wanting to build it himself a while back, but he seemed like he didn't want to get caught up in a race. Plus I'm researching it myself so I can just hold off trading it away.

Hi Twinkletoes, thanks for volunteering to take over my civ.

I recommend getting acquainted with the current situation in the game before going ahead and playing your turn.

Shadyforce and I have been very close allies the entire game (m_h/kodii were part of the alliance too, but when Dler took over for Kodii he eventually decided to attack me). We are currently at war with Elkad. We have a large force prepared to attack Utica, but there is a large defensive force there as well. You should sync up with shadyforce to decide if you want to go ahead with the attack (if I had kept playing I probably would have). If you do, you will need to arrange a time where you and shady can log on at the same time to coordinate the attack.

Elkad has control of the waters between his civ and yours. Be careful of his Navigation II transport which can move 7 tiles per turn.

I was hoping to go for a Cultural win. Jund is my National Park city. I was hoping to build Cristo Redentor and switch to Caste System, and start pumping out artists there. I was plannning for ChironBetaPrime and Thangorodrim to be two of my three legendary cities. For the third I wasn't sure if it would be Jund (running all those artist specialists) or another cottage-based city.

Broker also wants Cristo Redentor and will finish Radio one turn before you do. However, Sullla is a very high production city and is about to finish the Ironworks, so I think you can probably beat him. He wants to work out a deal so that he doesn't have to worry about racing you for it. So you should talk to him and see what he's willing to offer you for it and if you think it's acceptable. He talked about it a bit with me but wasn't really able to convince me.

Regoarrarr has approached shady and me about a long term NAP. The advantage of that is that it would allow us to attack Elkad in peace... if Regoarrarr attacks in a few turns (when the existing NAP runs out), shady will probably be in trouble. On the other hand, Rego generated a great artist a few turns ago in his National Park city, so he is probably ahead of you in the race to a cultural win. So you may want to be able to attack him to stop him from that.

First of all, Thanks dsplaisted for leaving me a civ in first position which is on the whole, very healthy and well run.

My one major issue is the current war with Elkad. I really hate it and it is just not profitable in any way,shape or form. It is my main opening objective to secure an immediate cease-fire and withdrawal, plus the redress of any grievances held by either side. We will soon have bigger fish to fry in the shape of Rego & Shady's soon ending NAP, and we cannot be diverted from that.

Now I have spoken to shadyforce and Broker and made this crystal clear. I have been given the information that this war is effectively a trade dispute over a missing artillery trade, and that Elkad is after a 'death or glory' military action. Now at the moment his target is myself and shady - and that is not good. We will lose many men up against the city of Utica and although we may well win, I still think it is not beneficial. If we are still at war with Elkad when the NAP runs out, shady could be crippled permanently and bang goes a good ally.

Now the good news.

After a long discussion with Broker, it seems like he is prepared to join myself and shady in an 'anti-Rego' bloc, and bring his allies with him. Now all we have now is a mutual understanding, but he is taking this proposal to his allies and they will soon present me with their terms for such an action. We are both optimistic that a deal can be struck, as I am certain that I can offer them a much better deal than Rego can.

They mistrust Rego and are all sure that his dealings are 60-40 to him, and I can and will offer them 50-50.

At minimum, this will be a trade embargo, using our greater research capabilities to out-tech him and then attack later, though ideally military action will be combined into the bargain.

I have also agreed a deal with Broker regarding the Christo Redentor wonder. I have given him exclusive rights to the wonder, in return for these tech gifts.

Now for all you interested lurkers out there, these are my current aims.

1)i) An immediate end to the Elkad war and resolution of all issues.

ii) A heavy diplomatic charm offensive on Elkad, try and convince him a 'death or glory' war against Regro with cross-civ support is much better, and we will help him get some of his cities back.

2) Further negotiations with Broker and his allies working towards a strong partnership to prevent the victory of Rego.

3) Extra work with Broker to try and negotiate a 'peaceful race for victory', no espionage (i hate it) and a game long NAP to have a respectful finish to the game, like PBEM1 between Ruff and Dreylin.

I intend to be as highly active as I can in this game, and play on my replacement of dsplaisted to build diplomatic bridges with former adversaries and establish myself as a trustworthy and honourable alternative to rego, someone who would like to win but is happy to come second if the fight is honourable and clean.

Now if any lurkers have a question for me, I am more than happy to answer them.

ANOTHER JUICY UPDATE

Well I can announce to you lurkers that my number one aim has been ACHIEVED jive

For the final gifting of Artillery by me and the return of the cities of 'Courthouse' and 'Theatre' from shady to Elkad, we will be at peace next turn.

I think this is an excellent price for peace, as it avoids a huge meatgrinder battle of Utica next turn in which 40+ Infantry and other will slug it out in 0% defence Utica. The losses would have been huge for all three parties involved and the only winner would be Rego.

Now those units can be used elsewhere! Alongside the peace deal, Elkad has pledged a high % of his troops to an assault on Rego.

So that is Aim 1 parts i) and ii) ACHIEVED

Aim Two is also blossoming nicely, with further indications from Broker, Lins and Munro that they are committed to the cause!

Sneaky Rego, who 'cancelled all cool-off agreements with everyone forthwith' around 10 turns ago, actually DIDN'T!! He had made side-agreements with Munro and Broker which meant he was lying publicly!

So he will have some nasty surprises next turn! Firstly there will be peace between ourselves and Elkad, and then Munro and Broker *should* be initiating their 10-turn cool-offs with Rego at the same time.

The current plan on the Rego front is this:

1) Scout out land quickly and see if there are any targets we can hit with Utica stacks. Hit them hard if so.

2) Begin to out-tech Rego as fast as possible, building up forces along the way for second war later on.

3) As forces build up, scout and plan with all parties proper invasion plans and objectives. We will make sure we know what we are hitting, when and how. We will sort out who gets what and a threshold for a ceasefire.

4) Beg for a peaceful end - I need to be at most level with Broker if I get any chance of this! If I gain too much then I will likely be next on the dogpile list! Though I think I'm too nooby to get a commanding lead and win with it!

Overall I am very happy with this result - I know shady needed convincing but I don't think I could do much more given my inexperience!
