It's possible - what you need is the Pitboss host to give you a save and the admin password. Then the save can be opened offline to look at everything. I believe this happened during Sullla's investigation of SANCTA's combat in the CFC multi team game.
RBP3 Lurker Discussion Thread - No Players!
|
Oh okay, but that doesn't sound very feasible if there are like 50 lurkers who want to watch, and they want to watch whenever they please. It'd be cool if it was implemented to Civ 5 somehow though.
This game shows why I'm not a fan of the Tech Trading Pitboss/PBEM games. You always end up with two big alliances (necessary for trading purposes to avoid falling behind) followed by long periods of stalemate, broken only when one of the alliances convinces one or two of the civs to backstab their friends and join the other side. We saw it in Pitboss #1, and the same thing seems to be happening here.
I mean no offense to the teams and players involved, but actual Civ4 skills seem to have little to do with the outcome of what happens in these games. At least in the No Trading games, everyone has to stand on their own feet, and teams routinely get left behind (and then carved up by more advanced neighbors). Plus you get those occasional 5 vs. 1 alliances - fun for everyone involved, eh? ![]()
Nice update in Carthage's thread, includes a mini-summary of the geopolitical situation and lots of screenshots.

I have to run.

I agree, at least from a lurker's point of view, following PB2 was more fun and definitely much easier than to follow PB3, in PB3 everything seems to a be a mess of alliances and counter alliances and whatnot, it's really confusing and it feels like it's less of a Civ game than PB2. Not really sure if that makes sense, and maybe it's just because i've never played with other humans before but all this with tech trading alliances and whatnot make the game much slower and for me the game loses its feeling. EDIT: After seeing novice's post, it's really quite absurd how the whole game has been dominated by research. Not getting access to a tech alliance? That's a war. Being refused to trading a tech? That's a war. It's like the only reason to war in this game is because someone has refused someone a tech. And I mean obviously I understand how important tech is in Civ, but it doesn't feel right when that's pretty much the only reason to war. To be fair though I don't really have a clue if that's actually the case, because it's so difficult figuring out what's actually going on lol Sullla Wrote:This game shows why I'm not a fan of the Tech Trading Pitboss/PBEM games. I think the community as a whole agrees that it's just the more enjoyable way to play. There's also much more skill involved in no tech trading. Diplomacy is still very important, but everything doesn't revolve around teching.
Woah, scooter, I thought you were on Sandover's team. Did you give up, or did Rome die or something?
Played in: PBEM 4 [Formerly Jowy's Peter of Egypt] | PBEM 10 [Napoleon of the Dutch] | PBEM 11 [Shaka of France] | EitB XVI [Valledia of the Amurites] | PB7 [Darius of Rome] | Diplomacy 3 [Austria-Hungary] | PBEMm/o vs AutomatedTeller
Can you imagine how India feels right now! They see Krill is going on holidays and he has organised a sub. Sunrise is probably thinking the sub won't be up to Krills level and he can make progress against Egypt and then it turns out to be Memphus, who from what I saw in Pitboss1 is just as aggressive and competent as Krill. Taken with the defections from their alliance, things ain't looking so rosy for India.
Does anyone think that other players should be informed that Krill's replacement is highly suspected of cheating (Sullla!!!)...
I think he is liable for cheating. ![]() Tatan Wrote:Woah, scooter, I thought you were on Sandover's team. Did you give up, or did Rome die or something? I actually quit at the end of March, click the blue arrow if you want to see the post: Sandover Wrote:This really isn't much fun at all at this point so this will probably be the last update I make. I don't see myself enjoying the game again even if CANT were to disband soon as they have already put such a major dent in our game. Square Leg and scooter, you're relieved of your duties and may resign from the game. I'm sorry but I'm simply not interested in putting much effort into the game anymore. Two chariots and a proper amount of goats are waiting for you outside at the palace garden. I didn't post in the IT thread or anything that I was resigning because I was just a dedicated lurker to begin with and have never even logged into this game. Plus at the time Sandover was still hoping to do some damage to Portugal so I felt that maybe if I resigned publicly it'd make him less likely to get help from other civs. But yeah, I haven't been involved in this game in a long time. It was actually that post that resulted in the creation of PBEM3. |
