[spoilers] Pindicator and Regoarrarr - Bismark of Ethiopia

Okay played the turn. Krill has settled, and average land is 7888, so we now know the land tiles of (almost) everyone who has settled. In order of settling, we have

Brick settled (8 or 9 tiles)
Ceiliazul settled (8 or 9 tiles)
Plako settled (8 tiles)
Dazed settled (6 tiles)
(we settled (6 tiles))
Yuris settled (5 tiles)
Commodore settled (8 tiles)
Cyneheard (9 tiles)
Azza (9 tiles)
Krill (9 tiles)

71 tiles, not including us = 7888 * 9 (/1000).

In order of most tiles, we have

Cyneheard (9 tiles)
Azza (9 tiles)
Krill (9 tiles)
Brick settled (8 or 9 tiles)
Ceiliazul settled (8 or 9 tiles)
Commodore settled (8 tiles)
Plako settled (8 tiles)
Dazed settled (6 tiles)
(we settled (6 tiles))
Yuris settled (5 tiles)

Seems like the game probably put most people on the coast, as it's primarily the people that did not settle on T0 that have the 9 tile capitals.

We may be able to tell a little bit more once borders start popping.

I thought that I needed to move Turd Ferguson, but apparently we've already moved this turn, so I just ended turn. I am planning on moving NE next turn, which hopefully should roll shortly (only dazed and Cyneheard left)

<l> at the agriculture oversight - these are the types of errors I am making as I am getting back into the game - like settling horses and realizing my civ didnt even start with Ag.

thanks!

Forum ate my post yesterday.....

So instead, I'll do a soldier count analysis. Should be pretty easy at this point, since it's all starting techs and units, but it's good to get that out of the way and confirm nothing crazy has happened.

I updated the soldier count and tech sheets of our spreadsheet with the appropriate civs / colors / values.

Thankfully, everything added up. Here's the soldier count for everyone. Everyone now starts with a warrior, and here's everyone's values with the techs that they have (at least the techs that count for soldier points, which are Hunting and Mining @ 2K each, and the Wheel @ 4K).

Ceiliazul - 6K, Wheel
Plako - 2K
Commodore - 4K, Hunting
Cyneheard - 6K, Wheel
dazedroyalty & scooter - 4K, Hunting
Regoarrarr & Pindicator - 6K, Hunting, Mining
Azza - 6K, Wheel
Yuri - 2K
Krill - 4K, Hunting
BrickAstley - 6K, Wheel

Average, not including us, is 4444.4, which matches what we're seeing on the demos. I would expect this to remain the same for several turns, until someone either builds a warrior or researches Hunting or Mining.

You'll also note that we are listed as #3 on the demographics, although we are tied for first. The way ties are broken are in reverse player order. So the demographic order would go

#10 BrickAstley - 6K, Wheel
#7 Azza - 6K, Wheel
#6 Regoarrarr & Pindicator - 6K, Hunting, Mining
#4 Cyneheard - 6K, Wheel
#1 Ceiliazul - 6K, Wheel
#9 Krill - 4K, Hunting
#5 dazedroyalty & scooter - 4K, Hunting
#3 Commodore - 4K, Hunting
#8 Yuri - 2K
#2 Plako - 2K

The numbers are that civ's player order (which you can see in the pick-a-civ screen, or mousing over the URL in CivStats). So you can see that if there's a tie (like the one at the top with BRick, Azza, Us, Cyneheard, and Ceiliazul), it's broken by reverse player order. Just a little C&D tidbit. Not incredibly useful at this point but can come in handy sometimes...

Logged in and moved Turd NE

That does look like a peninsula but I think that I will move NE again next turn just to be sure.

One other demographic thing of note. Average land area moved from 7888 to 9333

It is turn 3, so it makes sense that EOT2, any Creative civs that settled on T0 would have their borders popped.

Now, annoyingly, our 2 creative civs both settled on T0. If one of them had had the COURTESY, the GOOD MANNERS I tell you, to have settled on T1, then we would be able to tell for sure who this increase was.

But what can we deduce anyways? We know that global land increased 13 tiles ((9333 - 7888) * 9).

Our 2 creative civs are Ceilizaul, who has either 8 or 9 tiles, and Yuri who has 5.

We can tell the max land is now 15, and from our rank slipping from 8th to 9th we know they're both ahead of us (Ceiliazul was already ahead of us, of course).

To me, it seems odd that if Yuri had 5 land tiles in his BFC, that he all of a sudden has 15 now. 5 land tiles is very few (fewest of anyone), and for 10 out of 12 new tiles to be land seems odd. SO, let's say that it is Ceiliazul. Now, if he was the civ who had 9 land tiles (remember we don't know which of Brick and him has 8 and which has 9), then I would expect him to get the full 21 tile BFC, unless he settled 1 tile away from the coast (and even then, I think it would be tricky).

So, in conclusion, Ceiliazul went from 8->15, Yuri went from 5->11, and BRickAstley has 9 land tiles.

We'll be able to test this hypothesis in 2t, as my guess is that 11 tiles in the BFC is going to be min land once everyone's borders have popped.

Also @Pindicator, I've updated the land tab of our spreadsheet. For some reason the calc avg land column is not working right and I can't figure it out. If you get some time, knock yourself out smile

Once we get it working, we can copy it over as a template for the population tab

Since Pindicator said that he's not very available this weekend, I went ahead and played this (Very Exciting) turn

And our dotmap has been all shot to heck, as to not strand the fish, we're pretty much forced to settle on the tile the warrior is on (at some point), which means that we can't settle on the eastern coastal bank of the river. Maybe a city 1W of the rice?

Demos and score were still the same.

The real question is where next. We could move 1NW, 1NE or back SW. From fog-gazing, it does appear that the 3 tiles in the fog (NW, W-NW and 2N of the cows) are all land (and all forests for that matter).

Definitely seems like it would be odd if that connected to the mainland though (though from what we've revealed to our SE, that looks like more of a connection)

So I'm torn

On the one hand, we're already up here, it seems to make sense to spend the extra 4-6 turns going to the end and coming back.

On the other hand, it's likely this land is "ours", and so it will still be there in say, 20 turns when we maybe have some more folks available to scout. In that case, we should turn around.
