greenline gets rushed and eliminated on turn whatever: Huyana Capac of Mali

I have no idea what confusion you're referring to, but the gist of what I did last turn is I saw Dreylin's offer, closed out of the window to look around, re-sent the offer, and then changed some gpt/gold things in my empire that might have then invalidated the offer I just sent because I wasn't thinking about how diplo offers in sequential turns worked smoke

According to Dreylin, when he tried to accept the offer you re-sent, nothing happened. I have no idea if that's due to your gpt/gold changes, but it sounds like you wanted to take peace?

Yeah. I was planning to send an equivalent offer (tweaked values of flat gold/gpt that even out to the same as the old peace proposal at 10t) next turn if the one i sent this one didn't work out

Since you're right after him in turn order, and it seems more unreasonable to ask for everyone to replay a turn, that seems like the best solution to me. I'll pass it on to Dreylin, thanks for clarifying the situation smile

EDIT: He's on board with that, go ahead.

Just in case you missed the above edit, please do go ahead and re-offer next turn. The offer did not work (likely due to being offered before you rejigged the finances).

so, i screwed up. what's the best way to explain that? they say pictures tell a thousand words

First off, Dreylin wiped by rifle+cat stack that was marching towards plotinius. Then he got peace with picklepickl. I offered him a ceasefire while evacuating Boethius with my other Rifle + super medic knight stack. He didn't take it, but did recapture the city and offer peace. I should have taken this, but didn't because it swamped Thomas Aquinas in culture and I thought that was not acceptable. So I retook Boethius and razed it. Dreylin responded by wiping my rifle + medic stack with cavs. I didn't know you could beat rifles with cavs straight up without any collatoral, but it turns out I don't know anything about this era of warfare! dancing

(it still feels like bad design though. why do you need to bias the game further towards horse units already when their movement makes them the primary option in warfare anyway? i would make formation require only C1, but that's just me...)

So I evacuated Thomas Aquinas, which Dreylin retook and after the finances snafu we got peace. Or in short I got owned pretty much pimp

Some of it was kind of frustrating though. I did my advances based off the power graph but it turned out to be ridiculously misleading. Dreyling cobbling together a cav+cuir+cat stack to hit my cat stack only registered as being on the level of the garrison of Thomas Aquinas I killed at the start of the war (9ish muskets + LBs), and the cav stack that wiped my other rifle stack only showed up on the turn after my stack died or someabouts. Which implied that 1/4 or more of cavs that attacked there were whipped on the turn before. Clearly I underestimated the whip here. I thought cavs would be too expensive to just dry whip continuously but clearly they aren't so never underestimate the whip I guess shhh . It also helps that Dreylin's territory was set up by Sian to be jam packed with cannibalistic size <= 6 cities that are bad for economy but good for managing draft/whip cycles.

The end result is I gained no cities from the war, picklepickl got two (culture crushed), and Dreylin lost four (two razed two captured). Although he kept his territory mostly intact Dreylin's economy is pretty much dead. I honestly think taking peace with me right when he did was a mistake. With my stack wiped he could have advanced further and hurt me more. Now I have 10 turns to rebuild my now more advanced army (sporting Infantry and soon galleons + frigates). Maybe he didn't know how weak my southern defences were then though. I have to keep reasonable garrisons near Jowy because he has every reason to want to knock me down a peg.

That's the bad news, anyway. The good news is I fired my three man GA as soon as I got Assembly Line, which let my cities get a brief round of OR to build factories + coal plants. My MFG is skyrocketing now, plus I got into Communism at the end of it. Sad to obsolete all my AP monastaries cry but good to get +1f workshops and no distance maintenance smug . Right now I'm going to rebuild my army and build a navy and then... stuff?

What worries me about this game is that we're heading deep into modern territory without a clear victor being decided. And I have pretty much no idea how modern warfare works, especially considering how hard I got owned in the Ren era. Although it does make picklepickl's pick look good now. He's already going to get a big advantage from super cheap ORG german factories. And I think we might even see a Panzer in action this game eek .

But the problem is I think warfare is my only way to win this game since I have even less of an idea of how to build a spaceship or fart out a culture victory. So to that end I offered picklepickl a defensive pact. My plan to win is as follows

Step 1: Hurt Jowy somehow
Step 2: either concede to picklepickl or get picklepickl to concede to me so I move on to the winner's game either way

Guess we'll see how that goes. I will get the pentagon in a few turns barring any GE shenanigans from picklepickl, so that's nice. Too bad my capital is now so smog choked that I can't put IW there in fear of it starving scared . Beelining medicine OP?

uh, thanks for not ruining my shit with destroyers and transports before i could build a railnet, Jowy?

so picklepickl wants me to help beat up Sian Dreylin again... I don't think I can afford to commit too much to that since Jowy can jump on my back right away. I'll see if I can't raze some of his coast with transports though. I have a bunch of airships finishing next turn so the extra vision will give me a good idea of what to do
