I think the rule is quite obvious. This is always war, no in-game trading or gifting, even though it wouldn't be done through diplomacy screen.

No trading and gifting is still valid including missionaries or leaving workers to be captured on purpose. Information sharing is ok. Everyone can benefit from the information, even if the ones sharing probably more.

I thought we'd already agreed somewhere that Worker/religion gifts were out? In any event, that's my vote. This is supposed to be Always War, after all.

Yeah, seems like that would be out of bounds to orchestrate an exchange. I think if we want a religion we'll have to take a city from someone who has it. Mechanics question, does religion autospread in an AW game?

It can happen but only under a very unlikely set of conditions. The owner of an atheist city must have defogged a trade path up to the border of the civ owning the holy city, but NOT MADE CONTACT. In this state, the atheist city can catch an autospread because there is a trade path. (Trade path means road/river/water connection, not just defogging.) Once you make contact, there is no longer a valid trade path to the holy city because part of the route is hostile territory. So no autospread once you've made contact. So for all practical purposes, there's no religion autospread in Always War. If you want religion, found it or conquer it.

As such I think the appropriate thing to do is consider these worker/religion swaps and similar things to be banned. |
