Nothing like being given a purpose.

Might be a little hard to read under all that military being built. BUT guess who decided to play kingmaker? (a little harsh, but man it feels like it) Not that i saw much Nauf could have done at this point. I think if i had been in his shoes i would have either attacked me far earlier when i was actually bogged down in Gavagai lands, OR hit zulu with your better tech'd army. Because what is going to happen here is basically, i blunt any Gavagai forces with castle/pikes/engineering roads AND send basically everything else north. Nauf unless he suicide runs his knights, will get 3 cities. 2 guaranteed, but a 3rd is likely. I believe once i get everything that is currently being produced, and everything im willing to throw north (i could spite nauf harder by removing everything from the south, but i want a SMALL chance of recovery) But he isnt going to gain much angering me other than get a quick concession when anyone else that isnt a dumb-ass concedes. Ginger is already stupidly powerful, but i have the big bad city count. He is ahead of mjmd AND nauf in tech, and they are both some of the tech leaders. Ginger has Cuirs. If i was un-molested for like 30t i could probably have them too. I think Nauf could have signaled friendly relations until he had cannons, and then actually be a really big threat, rather than a big threat, but at least somewhat manageable.

If Nauf doesnt agree to peace, i concede to Ginger. All this war is doing is taking me from clear (maybe not, zulu is pretty high) 2nd place, into the pile. Leaving Ginger far ahead. Sigh.

So anyway, someone is getting hit hard. Didnt really want to whip shit to the ground but hey! thats what being the previous #1 food is for. Dont you worry though. Im still #2 after double whipping alot of units.

I dont have any eyes over there, which sucks because that has to be a massive stack. I can put SOME of my power towards having 25 cites worth of MP.. but that has to be a massive stack.

So anyway, this is a comparison between nauf's and my armies.

So yeah, Apologies to everyone for not playing this better. Another reason i want more input/a dedlurker. I want to get better at Civ. No, i will not spreadsheet. It is no longer Civ when you do that. ANYWAY.... I appreciate any and all feedback about what i could have done better. What i think i could have done better, would have been to just go all in/whip to the ground to take out Gavagai. Maybe that would have been worth it? Bordering Mjmd who doesnt build military except to defend others, i think i could have wealth-builded my way to something to crush him, and just kept a REAL close eye on nauf.. but i think if i had rolled over Gav, Nauf would have attacked much sooner. I want something in my gameplay to be the root cause of what has happened.

Moved units around, making sure i have enough covering the Gavagai front, the northern Nauf front and the north-eastern Nauf/mjmd front. Mjmd closed borders with me, hasnt declared on Greenline to get him off of dreylin to MAYBE make that a longer fight, so that Zulu can pounce in and MAYBE save this pb from being a laughable stomp. So i assume has knights waiting in Gav lands somewhere. Need moar pikes. Im expecting to wipe a gav army if it enters into range, a Nauf army after he eats 2-3 cities... but i cannot take on a large knight stack in the south. Please let him just be his weird isolationist pillow fort self.

Gavagai is still grabbing more and more cats into a southern stack. Which is good, as that HAS to be 99% of his cats. A HA/WC run-by (havent spotted his mounted stack in awhile.. probably 20+ units if not close to 30) would suck, but i can blunt it with Pikes.

Nauf has very little whipping power, and low food. Even with his tech advantage this is going to be a slow slow slog for him. Again, if this was 1v1, id have him. But ugh.

Anything i need to show? Pics? Steak i just had? Favorite flavor of Jolly Rancher? My Favorite person to neighbor, and least favorite? smile

Cant post the pictures right this second, but Gavagai has moved his forces up. He can either dive-bomb my castle-hill city with his large amount of catapults, and then slam everything he has into it and he WILL take it, or he can bombard for awhile. Either option works out for me. He cant raze the city just yet, so id be able to retake it and i have a musket/engineering edge over him. Its going to cost him to retake that city.

Mjmd continues to be a pain. He's brought up catapults.. SO i decided to give that city up for peace. Fuck him though.

Nauf will know pain soon

Took back my city that Nauf/tark took. He is saving gold for Cannons.... so im trying probably in vain to send signals his way to kinda show that im willing to forget about this, and he can go on his merry way and hopefully hit Zulu before THEY become the new big threat.

On the other side of my empire, Gavagai has his stack ready to take one of his former cities. He has taken 3+ turns of bombarding, ive struck a "decent" blow to his stack before having to retreat.. and have the city stuffed with plenty of highly promoted high strength units to hopefully still kill some stuff on the defense when he no doubtly attacks with his cats this turn. Im about 2t out from hitting him again, and with the capture of the city it will be a slow march thru his old culture to grab it again. UNLESS due to having had the city/culture for awhile, it will be in revolt?

How does the revolt mechanic work in regards to someone recapturing their old city? - Thx!

The last time I tested this, the results were inconsistent. I think it may depend on who originally founded the city, the tile culture percentages on the city center tile, the length of time it had been or has been owned by each player involved, and potentially other factors. So, in other words: I don't know, and without more information, I couldn't even guess!

[EDIT: Other possible factors that may come into play include: The current size of the city, the maximum size the city has ever reached, the total culture produced by the city while controlled by each of the players involved, possibly even a random number.... If I had time, I'd like to test this in more detail and try to pin down which factors are really in play, but ... "if I had time..."]
