ok as far as the game's concerned - nothing back yet from our new acquaintances. i guess realistically speaking, they'd have to tell us something pretty ground-breaking to make our scout move anywhere but W or NW-NW next turn.
best guess is given their starting techs (ag+TW), they'll go for a worker+AH start - we'll find out soon enough. strangely enough, i noticed 3 of the top 5 cities were founded in 3960BC. the ottomans' is up there, named Aquilonia. i looked it up and yeah, they're definitely going with a conan theme

just doing some thinking on the GNP figure in particular. the CRE civs get a bonus, but still to be pulling in 21/turn versus our 17 they must be running 2 gold/turn more than us. maybe Willem working a 2-gold tile? will look back on how demographics work in a sec
