Shot in the dark with another guess, not too hopeful

Answer: Can't
Reason: In a word "marC ANThony" and if the answer to the maths problem means solving the equation between them, maybe there isn't one?

Not it.

novice Wrote:My first attempt at a puzzle hunt. Some aspects are partially (I made some changes) based on Google:

Peter Falk as Marc Anthony

2 + 2 = 4
4 + 4 = 8
142 + 468 = 621
26730855 + 383313786

In a word, how long will it take you to find the answer?

I've made some progress, but I'm stuck now. Maybe someone else can figure out where to go next.

Both Peter Falk and Marc Anthony are born on 09-16, in 1927 and 1968, respectively. This probably signals the use of base 9 numbers, which is also the only way to make sense out of 142 + 468 = 621. When computing the final sum with base 9 numbers, the answer (as Jkaen noted) is 421144652. Mapping these numbers to letters of the alphabet, we get DBAADDFEB. My guess is that the second part of the common birth date tells us to switch to base 16 at this point, since these letters are all valid hex digits. Then somehow convert that 9-digit hexadecimal number into the final word.

Though I don't know how to do that final step. Any suggestions?
If you know what I mean.

Nah, I can't help with this one. Even after reading Zakalwe explanation I don't have the slightest idea about what he's talking about lol.

I believe the answer, in one word, is:

1DA5 (two bytes = one word)

I arrived at this by summing the two hexadecimal numbers DBA and FEB. Remember, the 9 hex digits spelled DBA ADD FEB.

Not it. You're overcomplicating things.

Ok... so am I on to anything with
ADD, or is that just a coincidence
?

No, you're off the path at that point.

Answer:

A decade

(Convert 421144752 from base 9 to 16 and that's what you get.)
