Turned tech on to get construction ASAP. Going to pause teching for quite awhile to build up a nice stack or two to counter AT's inevitable knights, and Mr.Cairo's build up, AND Krill's MASSIVE build up. Games going to get rather bloody soon.
I also sent Mr.Cairo a copper/copper in hopes that we can unite to keep the 2 game winners from achieving an early victory. I dont have the forces to attack krill if Mr.Cairo goes for it, but i DO have land-rights to most of his good cities. AT on the other hand, i think we can both invade rather nicely and continue into krill together <3
Working on EP on Cairo, and noticed that Krill pumped a bit more EP into me this turn, not a FULL turns worth, but its still annoying. Does he have research visibility on me and is wanting to keep it?
For more shits and giggles, here are my thoughts on the capitals ive seen thus far ( all but AT's )
If i hadnt of basically HAD to rush ruff, id have had a decent cottage-able capital. Sheep being the only real food i could split off.
the BEST cottage-capital in the game thus far, but with only 1 pigs for food... seems a bit light. The surrounding land make up for it somewhat, but feels like it could have used a plains cow at least.
Coastal capital. Irrigated wheat, plus fish, plus crab? a bit slow to get everything up, and not that great of cottage land, but man what a beautiful settler pump.
Longest to get up and running, this capital has "MOAI" written in the paint. 3 lakes, fish, 2 clams? Yeah, if this map had been about 1-2 civs worth bigger this would be the monster GP farm capital.
I think some plains tiles were added to this start to make it not so, overwhelmingly awesome. Also to probably prevent a Krill-meltdown. Grass pig + Irrigated rice? Yum.
Decisions to make:
Buildup and beg someone to throw their units into the meat grinder.
Research full speed to guilds, build knights, eat someone. Or get eaten when everyone has 3x my power before i hit machinery.
Try and do a bit of both?
Mr.Cairo and I are both kingmakers i feel in this game. Monkey-in-the-middle starts have been my apparent go-to. Can i get put in the corner? I promise i wont complain <3
Questions? Feedback? I love to try and improve.
"Superdeath seems to have acquired a rep for aggression somehow. In this game that's going to help us because he's going to go to the negotiating table with twitchy eyes and slightly too wide a grin and terrify the neighbors into favorable border agreements, one-sided tech deals and staggered NAPs."

100% bonus towards a building that allows all my cities that have Barracks + Gers to build 3 promo mounted units? Hell yeah. Also allows for 2 promo cats.
Cities:
I spec'd this city to be a prime production city. It could have been a decent cottage capital, but it was not to be on this map. Once i have the spare workers ill grow this city to use the plains hill as well.
This city wont really amount to much more than what it is currently doing. 17 base hammers gives this city 3t cats/keshiks though, so it will put in a good chunk of my units.
Will be swapping tiles with its neighboring cities in favor of production very soon.
8t till it grows onto the eventual-iron mine for added production. Thank christ for Build Research.
Had originally planned on this being a pure cottage city. Iron popping up kinda changed my mind a bit. Will be working the iron mine plus the grass hills to help produce more for the war effort.
Will take over as many cottages as possible from its neighbor city, Will produce SOMETHING with its spare hammers, haven't figured out what yet.
Pumped alot of culture into this bad-boy. Its going to pop borders in 18t which i think gives me vision on that island city of AT's. a galley or two worth of keshiks might visit it. City was basically made to get Silver/fur online and be a stepping stone to that island. Will probably just build research/wealth here and work as much commerce as possible.
Cottage/production hybrid. Odd combo, but we shall see how it works out. Gotta sadly get more culture in this city so a library is queued up.
Whipping workboat once it can get to the fish. Eventual fish/iron city, with this city working cottages that the capital said "nope" to. Yippie?
Boudica on horseback. A taste of the bloodshed to come?

Crop yield almost doubling me, the 2nd place food leader.
population being LESS than half of the leader.
Krill is going flat-out insane with unit production.

It doesnt look like Krill lost much of anything to burn that city of GKC. He also moved his sizeable stack of HA's my way, so im putting another turn into a spear in Jupiter, and moved another spear down. Dont know why he would antagonize me like that, but he IS Krill. If i was one to hold grudges i might just build a stack to smack him for the way he let OH hit me in pb42(?) But sadly i don't hold grudges.
Instead i hold a folder of memes:

Unfortunately that link is broken. No memes for me.
Looks like things are heating up as krill leverages his altars.
About city development, it comes down to how we are going to win this militarily. If the game is decided in the knight era then putting cottages in the valley of Sun is too slow. If there is a significant chance of a longer game we should consider it. Otherwise, we should build farms on the riverside grass for now and grow to our happy cap.
In a while we can change them to watermills for more production. Combined with windmills on our hills we could make a decent serfdom economy out of this land in the knight era. I do not think we have the food for heavy workshops/slavery in most of our cities. The exception is the fishing villages which have the opposite problems. That might be ok though as we have few important coastal cities and the game will be decided on land anyway.
Do you see a winning strategy (even unlikely) from this position? Having some direction is always good to focus one's game.
Fixed the link, that was a big mess. Winning militarily is getting to knights before someone either hits us with other stuff, OR gets pikes. This game ends at knights one way or another imo. Hopefully i can get some farms down and grow the capital a bit. Still trying to figure out how best to use the GG i have sitting around.
Winning strategy is hope that AT hits Mr.Cairo, Krill struggles more with GKC, THEN Mr.Cairo, and we hit SOMEONE with knights. Unless you have a better plan, like hitting someone with 50 keshiks? lol

I'm getting a crash with a runtime error wjhen I try to load the game. Im using the server pb.zulan.net:2047 and the mdo RtR_BugBeta_0.4 per the first post of the tech thread. What obvious thing is it that I am doing wrong?
