Diplomacy Master Thread- Helping Your Opponents Beat Themselves

Don't like that idea. The game state changes, so the amount of commerce that each team gets out of the trade can change from turn to turn.

What if we pay CivPlayers for OB during 10 turns, and they are 1 turn away from Currency, getting trade with all our cities?

If they arn't going to agree with something that benefits us I really don't see a point in pushing it further for the time being.

Presume their tilting at missionaries?

Missionaries would scout anyway (which they disallow), and they have their own religion already. They also don't have a shrine yet, so little benefit from sending missionaries to us (and we wouldn't like to have them anyway, I think).

Hum.
What else could they want production wise?

Missionaries would've been gifted though.

Yeah, but they must enter their borders anyway. But point taken about that, but they have little use for Hindu missionaries - they already have two religions.

BTW, we really should send a unit to take a look at CivPlayers city to the west of Seven Tribes, when we get the opportunity.

We should be attacking with knights or better so catapults are actually not so helpful to us. And meanwhile they will surely expect a big share of the German lands. In other words from a pure gameplay perspective we're probably better off if we don't work with them. But, from a diplomatic perspective this is obviously great (and other people have pointed this out). Just wanted to make sure someone mentions the downside.

Btw, I am in favor of NOT bringing to WPC's attention how far behind us in tech they will be by t150.

How about suggesting that micro-managing joint forces movement will be hard and we'd prefer that they take the northern front while we attack from the south. If they are using cats they'll advance slowly, if at all, while our knights gobble up more German territory... And if the Germans are assuming an attack from WPC they may gear up for defending their units, not ours.

Do we need to make a final decision and plan of campaign around t140 or so? Will we share maps with WPC to get a better idea of the lie of the land?

Sounds to me like they're still jerking us around. We asked for them to make a specific proposal and they said hammers. They should have said bananas!, that would at least be a tangible thing. Why does this sound familiar?

Quote:When I wrote my previous letters I was concerned that you would misunderstand, but it is difficult to anticipate on that. However, understand this very well: this diplomacy sub-game I cannot play on my own, I need you to play it with me. As they say: it takes two to tango. That implies that in a way I am dependent on you: as high as my demands may be, they can be only so high as what you are prepared to pay. I cannot overcharge you for that would make you slam the door in my face and we would both be worse off than if we kept talking. That is why I share this with you - so that you do not completely mistrust me and at least keep the door a little bit opened so that we may talk. In that respect I should thank you that you leave me room to explain despite your or your team's opposition.

Scooter, great message btw. My suggestion was along these lines and I am glad that we ended up with a message that was clear and concise. The quick response indicates success anyway.

Otherwise, I think they may want a war chariot! I read Decebal's message as something along the lines: we fear you are becoming too advanced, no trades with you. If that's the case I don't think it would be worth for us to pursue this deal.
