Are you going to build Barnaxus for the rush, SquareLeg?
Hey there! Glad you are enjoying it! The main object of this game for me is to have and if winning is a by product then woot for me!
Barnaxus, hmmm. Nope! Too obvious at the moment. I do plan on building him for barb defence though and will likely go for him while my army is in transit. If I can get him to c1 or 2 that would be nice but str6 golems should do fine against str3 warriors without the empowering promos. Barnaxus is wasted hammers that will delay the rush IMO.
Not textbook play maybe but I bet that serdoa will be expecting me to build barnaxus first won't he? Wouldn't you?

Serious question actually.
Well, seeing as I suck at C&D, I wouldn't know that you had construction, so I'd be surprised with the rush. So, Barnaxus could probably hint me that it could happen.
Guess your choice is good, than.
And this rush is really a rush... I was playing some test games to FFH PBEM 6 and I realized that turn 50 is really early. It's not possible to do very much in 50 turns...
It's a pity that warriors are so cheap and strong in FFH. If it wasn't for that, I would be almost sure that you could take over Serdoa. Right now, you'll definetely slow him down, but I'm not exactly sure that you'll take him out completely.
I would expect Barny first, however Serdoa strikes me as the sort of person to look at demographics, graphs etc, so should twig a build up, although as pointed out, it is a very quick build up and rush, so he will have little time to respond
I don't do a lot of C&D work but I try to keep an eye on the graphs and the log screens each turn. I don't see the value in spending hours detemining who has built a warrior each turn etc especially if the game moves on so quickly that the information is quickly redundant. Not my can of beans. However, I do think that looking for trends is really important. Power build ups as well as stagnant growth curves, increased GNP, MFG all should be paid attention to. I also try and open the diplo box fairly often too.
To date the following have settled their 2nd city: Bob, me, Iskender, Tredje leaving only Serdoa and Sareln with only their capital. I imagine they both have settlers nearing completion or in transit however. I am fairly certain Serdoa is building a settler at the moment but I'm not sure about Sareln.
If Serdoa does look at the graphs then he will see my power not just spike, but rocket. Honestly, 6 wood golems is going to send it through the roof in comparason to the others who only have only warriors etc... here's hoping he doesn't check that often. :neenernee
Turn is stuck with Tredje at the moment. Not sure why.
I sent this to the Sidar because I was bored and Tredje still has the save!
Sneaky Dwarf... ahem Wrote:You had been watching for quite a long time... It kept darting from one pillar to another and doing commando rolls periodically. Dressed in black with a bandanna of brown, it looked more like a cannonball rather than a ninja or spy as it waddled forward and back across the courtyard.
As it approached your desk you could hear the scrunch of something eating... really?! These Dwarf's weren't really that clever are they? The Dwarf snuck a piece of paper onto your desk and hid behind another pillar.
"Tee hee" was the noise the pillar made...
With that noise the object rolled across the room and lept for the window only to find it was closed, and made of strong glass.
"for the love of...?!?!?" the dwarf yelled.
It gathered itself thinking it hadn't been seen and ran towards the door to the courtyard, giggling and eating still.
With a sigh you pick up the scrap of paper and begin to read it.
Well that was embarrassing but I'm afraid he insisted on trying to reach you incognito... please excuse my messenger, if he isn't throwing shoes he is running around the palace pretending he has more grace than swan. Did he do the commando rolls? I bet he did. I'm really sorry, it must have been cringe-worthy to watch. We all know us Dwarf's are not the most inconspicuous, I hope you weren't insulted.
I write to you to ask if you would like to agree a settling agreement for the land between us? There is a large lake it would seem that divides us and so I don't see that there should be much difficulty in agreeing on a border?
If you are willing to negotiate at this stage I will send a map. I'll ask him to use the door next time."
In the south Dopey was attacked by a Lion and won!
Anyone notice anything else about this screen shot?
Yep - A forest grew near Totoro!
Ok that wasn't what I meant. A player has cast "For the Horde" Well I wonder how many units he got and what it did to his economy....
I haven't seen anything else bearing the orange flag other than the Goblin Archer in the last shot. It is difficult to tell at the moment if that archer is heading to choke the Balseraph, or just heading back to clan lands. Lets hope it is the former!
Some notes on the picture.
Exploration due in 4t after pressing enter. Mud Golems build roads in 1t on quick speed which is pretty cool as everyone else will be taking 2t. If I end up with a shit road network then I only have myself to blame. I will need to get another Mud Golem out fairly soon too since there will be mines and stuff to build as well as all these roads. I find that generally there isn't a need to build so many workers at the very start of the game in ffh since the worker improvement techs come a lot more slowly, however, once you get a few techs into the tree, they become just as important as in regular civ and so I will need to catch up on numbers. Mining will likely be an 8/9t tech by the time I get it and so that means it will roll in abou the time my army is ready to march. I can slip in another Mud Golem then - would be nice to get the MG out before the tech arrives but i'm not sure it will be possible. I'll play it by ear I think.
The forest grew on the tile I worked for the extra commerce to finish Mysticism in 1t instead of 2t. Something spooky going on there... :ghost: anyone got a ghost smiley???
Lastly - The Amurites got a nice event knocking a turn or 2 off their research.
Starting fairly soon I am going to be taking regular shots of the power graph to see the build up and if Serdoa reacts. Next turn I'll be able to see the power increase the Clan got from their world spell. I didn't even check this turn as I beleive the graphs are delayed a turn and so won't have updated. (Clan are 1st in the turn order with me being 3rd)
The extra unit maintenance is pretty hard. I'd estimate that Tredje has had to drop to about 30%-40% science at least.
POWER:
Erm - that is massive. I wonder what he got? I saw I gobbo archer last turn and that is it. He won't have got the Sons of the Inferno as that was patched out so he must have got quite a few gobbo archers to get that much power and not crash his economy. If they had all been warriors he would have something like 20 extra units that would have put his GNP at zero or below.
Here are the top 5 cities.
Totoro will grow another size next turn also and then level out at size 8 for some time. It gets the base +4 happy then +1 for palace, +1 for Sculpture Studio (Training Yard in Nationhood), +1 for Enchantment mana and +1 for access to silk. Thats bigger than the rest will be able to get to since no one else has enchantment mana or will have built a training yard yet I'd have thought.
