why is that not sensible? working together against the leader makes sense to me. apologies if its obvious.

They think we are farther ahead than we are. I think they'd be best off focusing entirely on economy. The reality of the situation is that if Mackoti manages to stabilize, they'll probably sign a peace treaty and Luddicator are wrecked. They need to worry more about their own defense while they catch up in tech.

Btw, NoSpace should have just razed that city with a great general galleon. It's defended by a single phalanx. Then their units could swoop in and mop up some stranded greek troops, too. Instead they're probably going to lose many, many units to attack a size 5 city. Crazy.

Er, scratch that, they would have actually razed Thebes instead which is ALSO guarded by only a single phalanx. (It's Mackoti's second-best city, and what we were trying to kill before Luddicator's attack interrupted us.)
Also now that I see the save I'm not so sure NoSpace will lose a lot of units. They have a big stack and I don't think Mackoti can bring enough catapults to bear given the river defense bonus.

For what it's worth, I want to agree with every word in Mackoti's post.
IF Mack can defend doggedly for another 15 turns
IF Yuris stops talking about cute Galleon tricks and actually stands up an army
then just maybe Mackoti's prediction can come true...

Yeah, I don't want to sound like a typical arrogant jackass lurker (as I usually do) but I think mack (and Seven upthread for that matter) are giving yuris a bit more credit than he's probably deserved based on the legacy of actions. Not that he's not capable of building a sufficient economy to surpass the wartorn mackoti and nospace versions, I think he's fully capable of that. I just think it requires a level of aggression that we have never previously seen from him.
I'd still be quite surprised to see anything other than a nospace victory. Which on the balance is probably the fair outcome for the game, if not especially interesting for the lurkers.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Me, I was shocked about how much trust I placed into NS7. Defending with warriors, did I really sign off on that? I have no idea, I can't remember.
There was a bit of a deathwish there, we would never stand up to a real attack, so I guess we felt like being risky and being at their mercy. Thanks Mackoti for keeping NS7 distracted!
Also, that weird trade with the cities and the fish/horses scared me, it sounded like a threat. I had no idea it was powered by Adam West Batman logic!

On the other hand, you didn't trust No7 enough, based on how they saw you, ie as their best friend in the game from the warrior incident onward. Shows how hard it is to establish trust in these games.

Well, it's all very well giving advice here in the lurker thread, I dunno.
Hey, I've never, ever, said I was a good player. I explained my reasoning. I was trying to take a path to their core, which happened to go via Ephesus to get rid of the culture.
In hindsight, there was no safe way of doing this without taking to the seas, which we should have done because we had a decent navy by that point. I should have retreated into our newest city, held that spot whilst loading up our boats and threatening island cities and other coastal cities. But... it's too late now. I was playing the turns largely by myself by that point.
I really wanted him to unload his navy first, though. But I wasn't expecting losing so many units.
(As for losing the navy originally - we were trying to avoid committing too many units to Callisto, so it was a blocking manoeuvre which we knew would lose units. However, he only had 3 SOTLS and his frigates got rubbish odds on our remaining frigates. As it was, it didn't matter how bad the odds, he won nearly all the battles. That's what cost us there.)
I wasn't clever enough to think of the GG galleon technique, although sometimes it's very much a case of not seeing the woods for the trees.
And on the sixth day, god created Manchester.

Yeah, I know it's easy to say what people "should" do from the lurker thread.
