So you may have noticed that Lewwyn landed Oracle, 4t faster than me. That makes me unsure of what to do with the 6 workers I had chopping or preparing to chop at VenLazzo
My thinking is that it's best to go ahead and finish chops if I'm already in a forest, even if it delays workers improving my new city of Hard Rock (it has iron, ha!). That would mean 3x chops into VenLazzo, finishing a granary and giving lots of overflow, and 2x chops at my capital, finishing a spear and again creating lots of overflow. Ultimately I will want libraries at the capital and VenLazzo, but how does granary->worker at VenLazzo and spear->settler at my cap sound, letting me settle the Mali-bordered sugar city without waiting for whip anger to die down? The main alternatives would be overflowing into libraries for vertical growth, or not chopping at all and improving Hard Rock sooner, chopping later post-Math.
Also, I need to decide on a tech path since free CoL is off the table. Writing will be done in 2t. The main options seem to be Monarchy (happiness, not immediately needed), Maths (chops, and on the way to Construction, Calendar, and Currency), or CoL if Lewwyn doesn't take it when he logs in. To give you an idea of the tech pace CoL is 10t.

When this happens, I often have those workers build roads on those tiles. Takes the same time as leaving and re-entering, saves the chop for when you want it, and of course you get a road. I'd certainly finish any granaries ASAP, but other chops might wait until after Math. Not sure on the priority of the sugar city, up to you.
Tech: The main attraction of CoL is the religion, since it's otherwise quite hard to pick up one in Always War. Your call whether to go for that (if Lewwyn doesn't take it and you still think you can get it) or Math.
You're in an awkward spot regarding libraries, since your commerce resources are spread around and not at one city. Not sure when/where to prioritize any. If you don't go for a religion, a library is more attractive since you may want to run the usual early Great Scientist. (Religion means run a prophet for the shrine.)
Here's my empire as of t69. As my last post previewed Rome moved a chariot up on me a few turns ago. Things were a tiny bit tense since with my limited military, especially pre-engineering and pre-construction, I had chosen to focus on Praet defense in the west and chariot defense in the east. Fortunately I had a spear just finishing in my capital I could get in position only a turn or so later than ideal. Rome had two chances to hurt me - they could either attack Venlazzo right at the start of t68 or pillage my gems any time on t68. I made a slight gamble - initially I had an axe+warrior in Venlazzo ensuring the city couldn't fall but making the pillaging easier for Rome. Once I knew I could be logged in right at the start of t68 I moved the axe 1N, at bad odds for the chariot to attack (aggressive, in forest, across river = <50%) but able to at least threaten the chariot if it ended turn on the northern gems (I'd have probably not taken the shot since the gems would already be pillaged, but Rome need not know that). Once t68 rolled I put the spear into Venlazzo and then waited for Rome to play. The chariot moved towards the (fogged to Rome) Hard Rock so the spear advanced out. I correctly guessed where the chariot would head and nailed it with my other spear. Horray!
In other news I continue towards CoL, due in 6t. After that it's several techs at the top of the tree. My cities are working pretty good tiles as of the end of my turn. You'll note in the screenshot Luxor and Wynncore are working one unimproved tile each, but Wynncore was whipped for 2pop to complete a worker and also complete a spear via overflow next turn. That meant it still worked the flood farm and copper, while Luxor grabbed it's cottage. You'll also note Hard Rock's development was a little slowed down due to the Oracle play, so it will need 4t more to get both resources hooked up.
Darrell (Possibly drunk) told me I need three more workers. Therefore one was just slaved in Wynncore, one is being slow built in my capital (saving the slaving for the IMP bonus settler which will sync to the whip penalty wearing off), and a third is being slow built in Venlazzo (working corn, 2x gems, unimproved banana). I should be in position to plant Stratosphere (my sentry border city with Mali) if I want to in about 8t, with defenders in place and plenty of workers (since I'll have nine!) for support.
My other builds are visible in the screenshot. I plan to build a sword or two to stay near top power, and otherwise may consider some libraries even if they're tough to fit into my civ as T-Hawk mentioned. If I land CoL I'll want a GProphet right away, but another consideration would be going for the AP wonder. +4 hammers per city via the bonus on religious buildings in quite nice. Another option, if it's available, would be GLibrary. Either wonder would probably involve the seven forests at my capital.
Here are my demos. It may be worth noting slaving Wynncore dropped me to 2nd in GNP and crop yield. I also dropped out of top power and top land area over the past turn.
Demos for Babylon in 2t, most exciting news in a while

I'm pretty sure I included a disclaimer, to wit that they were only needed if you'd properly grow your cities . I generally like a 2:1 Worker:City ratio at this stage in the game, and because you are IMP its really easy to outpace your Workers' ability to keep pace with your expansion.
Chat with sunrise as he walked me through playing his turn
Quote:sunrise089: can you just let me know if any enemy military units are visible...if not it should be easy to tell you what to do
thanks
sunrise089: i plan on telling you 100% of the moves to make
regoarrarr: ok
sunrise089: and mist, the mapmaker, already subs for TT
i plan to ask for zero guidance...if the enemy has moved like a stack in i'll just deal with playing myself i suppose
regoarrarr: ok
hold on while all these people go away
so i can alt tab back over
sunrise089: np
regoarrarr: logging in
20 praets 1 tile away from your capital
sunrise089: gross
and apparently magic
regoarrarr: oh wait, that was a peak tile - it looked different from that angle
sunrise089: jajaja
regoarrarr: from f5, only foreign unit is a barb warrior 1NW of your norhtern gems
i await your commands
sunrise089: ok
two military units to move then
there's an axe 1SW of venlazzo?
regoarrarr: yes
sunrise089: and a spear inside venlazzo?
regoarrarr: yes
sunrise089: please move the axe into venlazzo and the spear onto the gems tile it can reach
regoarrarr: spear can't move to that tile
as it crosses the river
sunrise089: sorry, the spear to the gems it it (the spear) can reach
regoarrarr: got it
sunrise089: the southern gems
then, please move the scout NW of Hard Rock 1NW
regoarrarr: done
sunrise089: and let me know if you can see a unit
i dont need the tiles listed or anything
regoarrarr: okay
he sees no unit
sunrise089: ok
regoarrarr: horse tile 1W of his new position
and jungle / forest
sunrise089: awesome!
ok, the spear 2N of Hard Rock should move 1SE
into the jungle
all other military units just stay in place
regoarrarr: spear moved
sunrise089: ok, so there are six workers...
regoarrarr: ok
sunrise089: the one on the rice 1N of Hard Rock should road and then cancel
regoarrarr: done
sunrise089: the two on the iron tile 1SE of Hard Rock should mine, and I think they will finish the mine when they both act
regoarrarr: done
sunrise089: oops, 7 wokers, forgot one finished
regoarrarr: iron tile mined
sunrise089: the banana NE of Venlazzo should be farmed
i think only 1 needs to do it to finish?
regoarrarr: correct
1 worker on the banana tile waiting order
(1 finished the farm as you requested)
sunrise089: ok, the other oine from the banana tile should move 1SW onto the grassland river and cottage + cancel
regoarrarr: done
sunrise089: the one 1E of the capital should cottage and cancel
i think that cotage will then need 1t more
regoarrarr: yes it appears so
sunrise089: ok, and the new worker in Wynncore should move 1E and cottage and cancel
onto the grass river tile
anhd i think that's it for unit
*units
regoarrarr: okay
done
sunrise089: oh, did confucionism get founded this turn?
via event log?
regoarrarr: no
sunrise089: ok, then tech and builds and tile assignemtns should be good
can you just check the espionage screen and then we're done
regoarrarr: what am i checking there?
sunrise089: how many EP needed to see charts for the three civs I've met
should be like have 94 need 92 for 1, have 65 need 63 for another, and have 50 need 52 for a third
or similar
regoarrarr: 101 need 99 on ichabod
78 n eed 76 on nakor
53 need 55 on pindicator
currently allocated 1/1/2
sunrise089: ok, can you allocate 1/0/3 please
just to make sure i gain charts on pind
regoarrarr: done
sunrise089: and then you can end turn
regoarrarr: is that your .... final answer?
sunrise089: yessir
regoarrarr: done
sunrise089: thank you!
I'm not playing for TT at the moment, he did not request that. There was a third party suggestion about the possibility in the public thread, but no follow up from TT himself.
Ceiliazul Wrote:Sunrise, if you did that without the game in front of you... the search is over.
Fortunately I had a screenshot from the last turn I used.
It's early though, and I only have seven workers and about five important military units. So I should be able to give most of the orders by memory, but I'd probably need the screenshot for one or two.
