I think most sites are quite clear. Some deserve more thinking, or adaptation depending of other people settling (7, 10). Suggestions for third settler are there to brainstorm... I truly think settling both ivory and pig in first ring is the superior. But other sites have other stuff going for them (hill/2h city center and shared corn which can be improved the turn after settling by 2 workers).
10 should be near the riverside jungle rice, but we might want to grab the gold if Mr.Cairo didn't (though I hope he will do and peacefully trade it to me - he agreed to that, posting diplo in a few)
7: I quite like the western site on a hill (the other site has the offenders on hill!) with green cow in first ring. But that will be the final casus belli with TBW I think. I think I will ran sims about CR2 swords vs cities at 40% culture or schock axes in the field against what I can field. Settling this city might not be the brightest idea, that is if there is a chance TBW doesn't dow.
-------------
Some other (bad) news... both TBW and MrCairo settled their second city last turn, ie t31.
Worse, Mr.Cairo went over the 43 EP threshold on me... I wonder if he has already thrown away all the early and steady diplo and elected me as the first target... or he has been sloppy ()
Annoying nevertheless

Thanks for the notice Charriu, will try it out.

Quote:Hi,
Thanks for the map! I agree, it will be a lot easier to discuss once we've got the map visibility in game. But that could still be in a while. I can do the next set of composites if you like.
The red line seems reasonable... but in that case may I suggest we arrange a future gold against ivory trade in the future? iirc you have several gold tiles in your capital surroundings (counting the one by the rice) and I would have several ivory tiles. That would make our people happier...
Tell me what you think!
Cheers,
Ras
Gold for Ivory sounds like a good plan to me.
Mr. Cairo
Sounds good, though I hope Mr.Cairo putting EPs on me again isn't a sign of him reversing alliances. Maybe he has no choice (we can't waste our EPs, can we?)
With TBW:

OOC: I hope you are fine now
I got no reply... and it's been 3 days now. I am waiting a bit more but I will take this as a firm "no" if I get no reply by tonight.

otherwise nothing exciting the last 2 turns... just going on with the reported micro. I will post a screen next turn (t33) as the settler for stone city comes out.
TBH, I am more and more afraid this city will doom my diplo. Though there might not be any possiblity for TBW and I to be friends anyway. I am hoping Superdeath goes south so we can arrange something together with Gavagai. But if TBW goes for a rush on me, I will need to adapt... I have the option to Oracle HBR, but I am going construction fast anyway, so hopefully I can have cats/HAs then phants up in time.
We are now on stone (settler & scout), the workers are roading east of copper because there is nothing else to do while waiting for settling stone city (I want to be able to finish the road toward it next turn so cottage turns weren't possible)
We switched in slavery this turn as planned.
EPs:
That's what annoyed me last turn, when I realized despite previous agreements, both TBW and Mr.Cairo were putting full EPs on me... since 5 turns! (check out last EPs pic on the first post of page 15...)
I micromanaged to regain visibilty.
I sent messages to both of them and they changed their espionnage spending, but I am not sure it means we are friends still:

No, just an oversight on my part. Unfortunately I've only met you and GKC, and I already have more than 43 in you and him. I'm going to have to just put 2/turn into each of you from now on, until I meet someone else. Sorry about that.

So Mr.Cairo is either sloppy (can be, it happens to me very often) or he is moking me...
Here is what I sent to TBW:

Hello,
I got no replies from Gavagai/Irismono sadly.
But I noticed you and Mr.Cairo are putting all your EPs on me since 5 turns now... Is there no hope for peacefull resolutions between us?
Cheers,
Ras
Rereading it, this is not the best I could have come up with, it feels too much agressive (that's on me, sending PMs very late and tired)
oh well

Maybe you missed it, or want to renegotiate the terms?

We are open to the trade. IRL has kept me away from forums for the past week, but I am back online now.
I'll have the screenshot to you within 48 hours.

Irismono
Good thing I persevered since I was ready to send it for free to make Gavagai vs TBW happen.
I'll send them a screen in the evening.
I might try another exchange with TBW first, since he changed his EPs spending, he might be opened to it.
Nevertheless I need to keep him up to date regarding trading with Gavagai, just in case there is still a chance we can be buddies.

Current demos:
Not stellar, but I am growing size 5 to start 2 worker/settler pairs. Not planning on whipping, but second worker will be chopped.
I haven't simmed this for a while, I might try to find improvements adding a whip into the mix (gut feeling says I need the commerce to have a shot at the Oracle, and without granary/lighthouse, I won't gain much but one unhappy citizen).
I got no replies from Gavagai/Irismono sadly.
But I noticed you and Mr.Cairo are putting all your EPs on me since 5 turns now... Is there no hope for peacefull resolutions between us?

Hello again,
tk you for changing your EP spending.
I would really like we keep peacefull for a while since we will just both loose grounds to our competitors going for early fighting. The map is so green, there is very few to gain going the war path that early. (sorry to come up with this, but that's the impression I got from your earlier EPs spending)
I hope we can both expand in a mutually profitable way, and maybe set up resource/tech trades...
------
I got a reply from Irismono finally, they should send me a screen within the next 48 hours. I will sent it to you.
Maybe you want to do another trade between us so we can have an up to date vision of the map?
Settled "Dawn of War" (great vintage game), the stone city.
Finished roading toward it the same turn, before starting SH chops.
Note our scout revealed TBW capital's location and his second city. I will take the time to show them on the old screen I got from TBW. (l8r though )
He will now go back to the tile 2 SW of The Evidence so he can protect the worker roading toward city 3 (next capital's build).
Microed EPs to regain graphs on our neighbours, here is their evolution inbetween turns:
Both Mr.Cairo and TBW are keeping their words.
I had some more exchanges with TBW. Reassuring. I hope this will hold when he sees our new city

I try to avoid early wars as much as possible too, especially on a map this good. I've got no ill intentions towards anybody right now. Honestly, I've never been a big believer in super early wars or rushes anyway, I feel like they're just too risky in games like this. I'll send you another screenshot when I've explored some more of the map, I have a scout moving south now to see if I can find someone else. Thanks for keeping in touch.
Regards,
TBW
Gonna do the screen trade with Gavagai/Irismono tonight.
