Profane Wrote:But you did kill over half a million soldiers in enemy territory, did you not? lol

And my boys should be sad about that?

I dug out the save from just before ending turn and war weariness is minimal. The odd unhappy face here and there, some with religious issues. Only Gut Shot has two, I think - many have nothing at all.

Looking on the F4 screen, Pegasus now has 319 war weariness, although I have no idea what that translates into. We have the Statue of Zeus but not sure what effect it is having.

Krill Wrote:I think I took the initiative in keeping the war a phony war. Did quite well, it seems, at least for a while. Though Cav are just hard to counter if you don't have the ability to tech, and 2 GA bombs, well, I'd have retreated almost everything out of the Brit immediately and fallen back to the Capital whilst whipping everything I could for muskets and knights.

The Brit did it's job, it should have been an expensive city to capture.

Yeah, the sheer number of HAs (and cats) that were produced was amazing. Would that ad hoc had done the same on the other side.

You wouldn't have had knights after this turn since we took the iron city.

Good work on the soldier count analysis, novice. I had just assumed that the soldier count didn't update until next turn or something - but evidently the two had similar power.

Right, some plans for the next few turns. We are going to grab Steam Power with Liberalism, not Steel, since there is no rush for cannons and we get the odd Levee up and running, plus workers will churn through their work in the north. And we can see where coal is, although the nature of this map means that there is unlikely to be an issue. (EDIT: and it's 400 beakers more expensive.)

We can go for Economics before Steel, hopefully grabbing the Great Merchant, and trigger a 12-turn golden age at some point.

The two Great Generals will head back to Dead Man's Hand to settle, for instant 11XP cavs.

Our mounted units will heal for a turn then head straight out to cause havoc. The rifles can team up with the 6 or 7 cats and some of the muskets and maybe form a second army to head in different direction.

Thanks Krill. You did an excellent job making things difficult for us.

  5. Barbs? Yes - normal

  7. Vassal Option? Off

Turn order:

TT - Hammurabi (Aggressive/Organized) of Zulu (Hunting, Agriculture, [STRIKE]Barracks[/STRIKE] Ikhanda, [STRIKE]Spearman[/STRIKE] Impi)

Just a note to self on what the game settings and rules are, again. Worth noting that city gifting is banned, and corporations are not.

Maybe we should pick up the economics merchant sooner rather than later. Not sure if we want to run a golden age with him or save him for a corporation, though.

Late to the party as I just got back, but that was quite impressive. On the top 10 turn reports list with such luminaries as rego v Shoot the Moon in PBEM8 and um... no others are immediately leaping to mind.

Great work!
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Munro's razing of Rego's capital in RBP1 also deserves a mention. And there are many excellent turn reports in Pocketbeetle's FFH PBEM1 thread.
If you know what I mean.

Yeah this was pretty much the same kind of report on the opposite side as my report in PBEM8.

As for Munro's razing of my capital, I'm obviously biased, but while the turn was of course momentous for the game, the turn report itself was not really great. Guess it depends on what this Top 10 list actually is lol

Yeah, I was aiming for something on the scale of both interesting in terms of tactics/etc. as well as well-reported. The Munro raze is probably the gold standard in terms of a meaningful strike, but PB1 as a whole was not well reported. Whereas rego's PBEM8 turn report was ultimately a pretty meaningless battle in terms of deciding the game but fascinating reading. I certainly think there'd probably be a few pocketbeetle reports on that Top 10 list.

Actually that battle pretty much decided the game, as it meant that Shoot could not compete with WK - we ended up conceding the game to WK a few turns later
