[SPOILERS] Lewger goes for the Bigwyn

we're using rbmod in this game. in rbmod, free speech is an economic tech replacing environmentalism, and is unlocked with sci method.

Don't you think free speech is relevant for a culture victory? tongue

That's a cool change, makes teching scientific method actually feel like a positive thing instead of a depressing economy killer. Excellent then, good luck with the culture!

Explaining the RBMod change to Sci Meth, but you beat me to it, and I didn't feel the need to clutter up your thread :P

In every RBMP game there are two competitions, winning Civ and winning the thread spam.

Some think the spam victory is more important.

You've got a ways to go on both counts then. Get cracking!

Alright I'm fine with going for rifling but mostly because I don't think it improves or decreases our odds of victory. lol

In either case we're in a race. Rifling just delays our CV but it also delays the military tech gap with which people would destroy us. So. Okay.

So Serdoa is 2 turns from SciMeth and Commodore is 3T from replaceable parts. I'm going to tech Gunpowder next turn (2t) then I think I will swap into Nationhood and start drafting... We're 4th in power and everyone's power just keeps increasing.

logged in, had to set builds in maths, rama's, exodus, make sure you check them for what you want.

I don't like your solution, though.
1. it kills our economy. buro-gilgamesh is funnelling most of our economy, and now that its going to reach 18 and keep growing next turn, you should be able to use the hammers to crank out a bank and observatory fairly quickly and not even slowdown the culture buildings. printing press isn't far away which will only make Bureaucracy better.
2. not sure thats even the best way to increase our power. look at the MFG graphs. we are now #2! and we aren't that far behind serdoa! I think a better solution would be to take a short break from temples and have all but iliad, volsung, shah, and the two new baby cities pump out 1-3 muskets (more for the more hammer cities). you could crank out 30-40 in 10 turns that way, no? we really only need to fortify 2 cities, for now, as long as we build plenty of east indiamen too. (although I'm all for over-fortifying those 2 cities, not recommending we skimp on military). also maths can take over the pigs and get larger to crank out military faster.

the thing is, where would we draft? thanks to switching out of slavery, we now have large cities that have capped out their food. only the odyssey and paradise lost really are capable of regrowing quickly. and the odyssey is not really draftable until after you get the globe built, so that leaves paradise lost! song or roland, el cid, rama's journey, and hindelblabla can all draft off excess coast tiles, but only a bit as that population is not easily replaced. job too, but those are maoi coast tiles. I think it would be counter productive to draft off hammer tiles.

the other thing is, we aren't that far from a golden age. If we aren't going to build wall street (and you've convinced me we shouldnt), then we can start preparing for that now. we can start hiring specialists shah can support and get 2 GP in 20 turns or so. or you could get creative in gilgamesh to pop one there, then shah, for a similar timeline. I don't see why we couldnt have SCI method by the end of this golden age. we also want as many tiles as possible for that golden age! I would rather save a nationalism revolt for when we revolt to free speech - and preferrably save both for a golden age!

to summarize, my alternative solution:

get gunpowder in 2 turns, pump out 30-40 muskets in 75% of our cities, temporarily halting temples, or whatever it takes to get closer to serdoa and feel safe, then go back to CV builds. build bank and observatory in gilgamesh, grow it to size 19 or 20. build obervatory in paradise lost (academy and towns). agressively pursue golden age, aim for PP, sci method, and replaceable parts by end of golden age, revolt to nationalism and free speech. limp towards rifling while we finish up cathedrals and then turn on 100% culture (if we want, we can effectively draft all cities but the 3 CV cities and shah, maths, into the ground at this point).

anyway thats my pitch. going out of town this weekend so won't be able to log in until monday (can still check this thread on phone) so I'll leave it to you to make the final decision.

ok after looking at gilgamesh again, buro is not as important to us, economy wise, as it was before we absorbed azza. I still think the hammers will make a big difference, though, and would rather wait for a GA to avoid the turn of anarchy.
