RB Pitboss #3 [SPOILERS]- Suryavarman II of England

Lobo.Thibron wasn't the only event of the day. Although I'm glad Krill didn't get an extra worker out of the deal.

Techs discovered:
Pacal of Carthage founded on T1, and likely discovered Agriculture 1t behind us. Seems reasonable, especially since they're expansive as well. Fishing/Mining to start.
Napoleon of Aztec (Ruff_Hi) founded on T0. He started with Mysticism. Buddhism was founded in a distant land this turn (we should check the event logs every turn, wonders and religions). He founded Meditation. Note the new high GNP of 22: that includes the new 5cpt that he's getting from his holy city.

I do NOT believe that Lobo was the player who lost his warrior on T9. If he was, then someone else lost their warrior this turn.

Why I'm not worried about the empty capital:
While we're size 1, we can only output 4hpt. However, after T18, we'll be able to crash-build the warrior at up to 6hpt, or 4hpt while still working the 5/0/1 rice. I don't want to change our build plan, although if we meet someone else, Gulliver needs to turn towards home immediately. So, E-NE for the next two turns is fine with me.

Still tweaking possible micro plans. I just added a lot of hammers to my plan by realizing that I was losing chop hammers because of overflow limits. Something like 8 hammers were going up in smoke.

Tech Path, as before: Agri (done) - BW - AH (EOT39) (if city #2 slows this down, then my plan will need some tweaking) - Wheel

Worker 1, EOT12, as before.
Warrior 1, T23, size 3.
Worker 2, T29.
Settler T35 (2 mines up and running, fed with 2 chops)
T36: Anarchy
T37: Finish worker (2 chops, 1 on T36 and 1 on T37). This worker can head off to city #2 immediately.
T38: Build settler for 1t
T39: Finish 1 chop (double-team the GHF SW of the Sheep). Build Warrior 2. AH comes in over the interturn.
T40: Build Warrior 3, mostly off of overflow.
T41: Restart settler. Finish pasturing sheep.
T45: Finish settler, off of 2 chops. 13 overflow. City has 2 forests left in BFC. Sheep, Rice, 2 GHMs are all the improved tiles (and all it needs until we get Pottery in, and can build some cottages). Assuming net contribution of 0 commerce from city #2, after maintenance, we're at 75/108 on the Wheel.

Agree E-NE looks good for Gulliver.

Nice work on the plan, Cyneheard. Overflow limits...ick. Really dislike that they broke that in the last patch, trying to control gold overflow abuse. Losing the overflow is worse than what they were trying to fix, since it puts more micro back in the game. Personally I enjoy micro, but it is something that should not be required to get sensible outcomes.

Buddhism founded T12...it's almost like we are playing with AIs. lol I expected we would see early religions fall fast, unlike PB2 where everyone convinced themselves they would get beaten to them. I wonder if anyone else was chasing Meditation and lost out? How quickly will Hindusim fall?

I think you are correct that Lobo had not lost his warrior earlier. He apparently had just finished building a worker, which he might have changed had he lost his warrior. (Although maybe not, if it was almost done.) Was his capital visible, did Egypt see his warrior elsewhere, or did Egypt just take a calculated risk and attack anyway? We will probably never know.

8 teams have yet to discover a tech.
They are:
Willem of Portugal (T1 found) (Fishing/Mining)
Elizabeth of France (T2 found) (Agri/Wheel)
Pericles of Babylon (T1 found) (Agri/Wheel)
Darius of Sumeria (T0 found) (Agri/Wheel). I think it is safe to say that all the Agri/Wheel teams went AH or Pottery first, except maybe Elizabeth. My guess is AH, but we'll know by power and cost. AH costs 180 (1.2 multiplier: 15t without working a river, 13t with), 2k power, Pottery costs 144 (1.2 multiplier: 12t with or without working a river), 0k power.
Bismarck of India (T0 found) (Myst/Mining). BW first, most likely.
Gandhi of Egypt (T0 found) (Agri/Wheel). See above.
Kublai Khan of Rome (T0 found) (Fishing/Mining). BW first, no doubt.
Zara Yaqob of Ottomans (T1 found) (Agri/Wheel). See above.

So, except for Bismarck of India, none of the other teams could have been chasing a religion. However, I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't try to go for BW first. Fast Worker + Chops = crazy fast opening. With Expansive for extra acceleration.

A blind warrior kill is pretty ballzy. He probably saw the warrior out and about.

Anyway, I think we should go with Cyneheard's plan. 2 turns of unworked tiles don't do much.

Is it me, or is it scary that we've already got T45 planned? Then again, there's a lot of moving parts to it, like timing AH research properly with the workers' availability (we are going to have to WB the moment BW comes in, to see if the maintenance will hurt us. I doubt it, I suspect we'll only have 2 maintenance, and the city can provide 2 commerce easily enough), and chopping the right forests from the beginning to maximize worker productivity.

Will this nomenclature for the worker signs be clear enough?
"W1 Chops T29" means that Worker 1 needs to enter that tile on T29.
There would then be one tile with "W1 T37 W2 T38", since that forest needs to be double-teamed. I do want to name our workers (the 7 dwarfs? Especially with how much they'll be swinging their pickaxes and handaxes for mining and chopping)

LOL

I was thinking about the 7 dwarves as well if we stick with literary characters...

Your notation looks pretty good.

I realized something while putting the signs up: there's only 1 tile 3 tiles from the capital that's fogged, the silks off to the SW

Here's how my worker plan goes:

I wish we weren't white, it's really hard to read the signs. I didn't bother specifying which worker did the last 2 chops, since it's completely equivalent. Also, should we name our next worker "Doc"? He'll be out next turn jive.

Your reasoning on techs seems good to me, Cyneheard. BW for those who start with Mining, likely AH for the others. I suppose we could have a non-Mining team go for Mining then BW. Maybe a Pottery or two, but generally that would be later after the basic worker techs are in place.

The sign terminology is OK with me. I will need to keep it in mind that the turn notation is for moving to that tile that turn.

I like the seven dwarves idea. smile

Time to get the rice farm started and begin growing at last.

Oops. One of the teams DID go for Mining first. The Inca. I mistakenly had them down for Hunting.
It took them 9t to discover a tech. Hunting costs 72 beakers, Mining 90. With 10 or 11bpt, they'd have finished Mining. Both give 2k power.
