[SPOILERS] PBEM 8 - WarriorKnight's Spoiler Thread

Well 'the plan' didn't work out, or at least not how I initially planned it. I was going to raze Patiliptura via a naval invasion, but it didn't work out for 2 reasons:

1. StM indeed managed to find out about it, and doubled his garrison. I can't say I wasn't expecting that though.
2. One Indian fighter (which was all he had within range) managed to shoot down 1 fighter and 3 bombers and damaged a 4th! I don't know the mechanics of air combat that well but if I wasn't for that one fighter, some of my bombers would've caused collateral on the city which could have given me decent odds to continue (I only had 4 bombers since I only got Radio a turn or two ago).

It's not that bad though. StM has not got a decent navy on my border, having only 2 Destroyers in range and no Battlehsips as of yet (no Industrialism). Plus I can now hit 4 of his coastal cities next turn and potentially more the turn after, some of which only have 5-6 units in them, so if he wants to save them he has to quickly get some defenses inside.

I can't wait for the save to get back. smile

It seems that there's a heavy battle going on elsewhere too:

4 GG's born in a single turn! 3 of which belong to rego (probably because he hasn't had as many due to not killing anyone) plus one died. India's stack got heavily pummeled, as it was 3-4 times that size last turn. Nice defense rego.

Of course, I want to join in on the fun too. smile StM indeed buffed up defenses everywhere, however he has no fighters nearby on intercept (his 'super' fighter is healing in Agra). That means my two bombers nearby can both definitely strike wherever they can reach. Here's a list of city defenders in the cities I can reach (had to load up the save again for them):

They're all defended fairly well. I can't reach Madras with bombers, so my best units only have 50% odds so that's out. Lahore and Pataliptura both can only be reached by one of my two bombers, so let's go for Agra. I want to get rid of that fighter too.

Sadly I wish I thought to take more screenshots of the battle. It was fairly straightforward though, as after bombing the defenses with ships and garrison with bombers I had 70+% odds with all my units. I did lose 2 tanks and a Marine I think but at those odds this was inevitable:

(and hey, I got to use that mace for the kill, score for filler units)

I had to delete my mace unfortunately since I can't let that knight get a free kill. But otherwise mission accomplished.

I won't have enough healthy units to be able to attack anywhere else in the near future, but his only nearby naval units are 2 Destroyers, so I can definitely keep him on his toes. At least until he starts building some Battleships.

He's still ahead in production unfortunately, but wow, he lost more than a million soldiers from those two battles. That's gotta hurt. hammer

Since StM is still in Nationhood, he's quickly drafted up enough Infantry in his border cities for me to even think about another attack. At least not until I finish this:

Nukes aren't banned, so of course you should expect me to send a ton of them towards India. I expect him to quickly build bomb shelters in all his main cities, but he's teching Plastics instead of Fission or Rocketry so it'll be a while before I can expect any in return.

I can't figure out why he would go for Plastics now though unless he wanted three gorges dam. If that's the case, why has he waited for this long to build power plants? (I've had coal plants in my cities for a long time now and the unhealthiness isn't too bad) If he hasn't built any power plants yet but is matching my production, then his production could be painful soon enough.

Oh, so you want me to update every turn?

No updates since there's been nothing overly exciting between my last update. I haven't nuked StM (yet) since I've gone for Tactical nukes over ICBM's since they're cheaper and they then have to be loaded onto Subs. However, next turn I should be interesting since I plan to attack. wink

I have another Tactical nuke in range with some more ships that will contribute. 4 nukes, even with bomb shelters, should be fairly effective at eliminating all the defenders, and depending on how effective they are I might try and take Lahore too.

I didn't notice those 2 transports there before ending turn, but I have 10 units in my border city so even if they are loaded I should be alright. The GG you see is the free one from Fasicm, I only got him for denial. Otherwise I'm heading for Advanced Flight.

Doesn't he at least have bomb shelters in there? WB tests indicate that 2 nukes are enough to practically destroy any stack without bomb shelters, which either means I got really lucky or he didn't build bomb shelters for some reason.

You can probably guess what happens next:

What now? Well StM has Rocketry and is working on Fission, so I'm going to need some bomb shelters of my own before too long. I still have 2 tactical nukes left though so I should be able to take another coastal city with minimal resistance, although any more will be unlikely.

I'm going to make sure nukes are banned if I join another game though. It's crazy being allowed to kill as many units as you want with just 2 nukes.

Well played WK - to answer your question from earlier about me not retaliating on you after you took the ex-Native capital - I didn't think that I could do much damage there and once you read my thread you'll see I didn't have a whole lot of force anyways...
