So timing worked out well enough. I had just crawled into bed, checked civstats one more time from my phone, and saw Azza had logged in so got back up for the turn flip.
I now have my Great General. I was able to kill another of his axemen with the next new axe I had just whipped in DM. I had moved Chops (the axe that fought last turn) into the city, along with the chariot. I then stupidly decided to try a chariot, which died against his spear (even promoted to Shock). I don't know what I was thinking. Anyway, once I got that out of my mind I decided to try with the wounded Axe from last turn. He had like 53% odds, so I felt it was worth the coin flip. And he won. That's what got my my GG.
I stopped fighting at that point, since the next best odds was my C2 Sword at like 38% odds or something. So at this point, I just need to wait to see what yuri does and wait for more Axes of my own and/or for the other two to heal enough. I need to get rid of yuri's remaining 3 axes with axes of my own, since trying to use anything else just won't yield positive results.
But at least now if yuri decides to retreat, I've gotten my GG. Now I can go to sleep happy. Good night RB.

What are you going to do w/ the GG?

Not sure yet. I was originally planning on putting him on a unit (and splitting some of that 20 XP to another unit or two). But just now when I woke up it crossed my mind that I might be better off settling him or something like that. I'm now leaning a bit more towards building a Military Academy. His invasion has failed. So it's not like I will need a GG unit for awhile anymore, so the Military Academy might be my best use out of him.

And here is the additional details of how his invasion is now completely over. He did exactly what I hoped he might do. He moved all of his Immortals 2 tile, and his other units 1 tile. Therefore leaving all his mounted units undefended by the spears. I guess my leaving MtW empty enticed him too much.
I whipped the Archer in MtW just in case before I actually did my attack. I may need it there in case he moves his Axe/Spear stack onto the forest next turn.
I was able to kill the first two Immies with my Spears that were sitting in DM. Next up was my C2 Sword. That leaves the sword alone in the forest. If yuri logs in before me next turn he'll kill the sword, I'm sure. But when I log in I should be able to eliminate the rest of his units.
I had moved my GG south towards DM, but I'm starting to rethink that and may send him back to PoD to make a Military Academy. Or I could build the MA in DM. How do you guys usually decide which city to make a Military Academy in?

The other annoying thing is that I should have finished chopping that forest (it's 1 turn from being gone) instead of waiting for Math. If he logs in, he'll move his whole stack there. And they'll get 50% defense bonus from the trees. Means I'll probably lose a couple additional units trying to kill them all.

Ah right. Ok, guess I'll use him on a unit then. I could have him join a city for +2 XP for all units, but not sure that's really worth it at this point.
Now just to decide which unit to put him on, what promos to give it, and how many units to split the XP with. I think I have time to wait until after I've killed all yuri's units to make that decision though. I don't see that I will need a GG unit in this battle.

Well, full success. I killed off the rest of his units without any losses. Now I have time to decide what unit I want for my GG and how to allocate the XP.
I'll post more details later after I log in again to finish my turn. Just did a quick partial turn to kill his units before he had a chance to do anything with them. I'm busy at my parents house doing some stuff again fixing his network.

yes, I was going to point that out - you are quite a bit away from military science ![wink wink](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/wink2.gif) .
Your only options are to settle him with a city or settle him with a unit, unless you plan to use him as a scout as well. I don't think he'll be quite as effective at it as your great spy though ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) .
