Well, I mean, one of the prime directives of Realms Beyond is to strive and make friends with the people you play with. I honestly don't see any harm in just chatting. We're not nuns, after all. No offense to any nuns here.

Yeah, chatting does reveal more of the person behind the username. We might just introduce a clause that states "all game-related messages must be posted in the banter thread.'
More people have been to Berlin than I have.

Why not just chat in the thread? It's only a 30-second wait time and then those of us who are also in the game can pile in as well... ![smile smile](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/smile2.gif) .

1. In a chat room, you don't even need to capitalize words. In a forum, you (usually) do.
2. We never seem to be online at the same time. Even if we are, we never seem to be in the same place at the same time. :neenernee
3. Since when do you need to write a three-point argument for anything in a chat room?

All my chats possess (mostly) proper capitlization and punctuation. Spelling, however, is not guaranteed. I guess that's just the kind of person I am. I imagine the real life equivalent to what I'd want from a banter thread is playing a board game with friends over a table. To continue the metaphor, having and later posting chats would be 2 players having a conversation about the game while getting more beers from the fridge and then reporting back to the table what they talked about; alright, but the rest of us don't get to pile in.
That and I don't keep my chat client open, but I do keep RB open...

Do you seriously want a 264 line chat about geography, poetry, comic books, theorycrafting, and minecraft?

If it's about the game we are playing, yes. If it's not, then maaaaybe?
I appear to have misread somewhere.
If you're just chatting in general, shooting the breeze about other games you're lurking, etc. Go for it. I thought what we're talking about was whether or not game related stuff was going to be talked about outside the banter or the tech thread?

Yeah, don't worry, I've been careful to not chat about anything regarding this game.

Not sure if it's just me, but the tracker page doesn't seem to be working. Here's the message it displays for me:

I have no problem with people just chatting in or out of game.
if you mention anything abotu the game in passing, you should post the relevant parts, i think. Beyond that, game chat should be in the public thread, I think.
If you find yourself negotiating a NAP offline, you should probably stop and take it to the public thread
