Civ4 AI Survivor 2: The AI-stralian Outback

Yep! Been a busy week at work so no streaming for the past few days, but I'll be ready for tomorrow's AI game. (Also be aware for starting time that the US is on daylights savings time now.)

Darn... hadn't noticed that. That means it goes from a 6am Sunday start to 5am here. And in 3 weeks we go out of DST so it'll become 4am. Might not catch most of the rest of the series if it stays at the same time slot then, sadly.

Kicking myself for not knowing when the game started and submitting too late.

For those who missed the announcement, leader draw and map creation for game 5 will be around 7pm Sunday EST. Game 5 will be in 2 weeks because Sullla is taking next weekend off.

Any recap for yesterday's game. My interwebs are still too crappy, and anyways I was watching a match around the same time.

Also, since no one has mentioned the actual result:
Cathy wins, Ragnar comes in second. Peter is the only survivor entered into the WC pool.

I have read all of last year's play reports, but have not been following the forum.

Are we still operating on the default Firaxis AI? Have folks considered using one of the "Better AI" mods out there?

I know that Realms Beyond has been going pretty heavily into Civ4 mods in recent months, one reason why I've barely posted here recently. They're simply not for me - I want to play Civ4, not the K-mod version of Civ4 or whatever other version might be out there. More power to those who like them. K-mod is a completely new game in its own right, one with its own gameplay rules that I know nothing about. I'm not particularly interested in staging a competition between K-mod AIs, regardless of how well they might perform from a gameplay perspective. So I'm afraid that I have to decline this offer as well, since I'm not investing a lot of time and effort into something that doesn't hold my interest.

Any longtime Civ4 SP players gets to know the AIs like they were people around your neighborhood... Isabella as the crazy old church lady, Tokugawa as the cloistered hikikomori, Montezuma as that asshole who flips out when you park on the curb in front of his house (you don't own that curb, buddy!), etc. I've always thought that was something that the Civ4 AI didn't get enough credit for - even though they don't play so good in general, they at least play different enough to be memorable and distinct.
