I just picked up playing again with the Tavern Brawl. Note: I have very few of the GVG cards, and I didn't get Blackrock Mountain.

I've seen a lot of the mage decks - they seem fine, but the combo potential is a little overrated. Their decks tend to be a little to slow, though.

The Warlock Zoo deck I'm running seems really well-suited to beat them - even with my limited cardpool. Lots of 1-drops and 2-drops and some fast kills. 21 of my cards cost 1 or 2 mana, and 5 of the others are 3 - just the Hellfires and Doomguards are more than that. What have other people been running?

Is it bad that I really don't like this week's Tavern Brawl? I don't mind having to brew a deck (though I don't understand why I needed to brew one this week and I couldn't just copy one from my saved decks--presumably there will be deck-building restrictions in the future), but this shows two of the worst parts of the mechanics of Hearthstone: the catch-all of the "spells" category even when it doesn't make sense (though bananas at least have an excuse; the real problem is the coin) and the hand limit creating feel-bad moments when cards are burned (instead of just using a discard phase where you have choices).

Yeah this week's brawl got old really quickly for me, there's enough aggro on ranked as it is. I was just playing mage with a few weird cards and only seemed to get matched against other mages.

This week's brawl is not for anyone who hates RNG.

2 Scavenging Hyenas from first 2 webspinners? Why yes I think this is going to be a close game!

Is the gimmick of this week's Tavern Brawl just random decks? I didn't think they'd run out of gimmicks for non-deck-building challenges that quickly, especially when you have a million Adventure bosses to play as.

15 random class, 15 random neutral cards. People are saying that the randomness is not weighted by rarity so you'll see a lot more legendaries than from an Arena draft. In the 6 games I played it seems like a slightly lower power arena and and it can be fun to play cards you never see and there are some difficult decisions that you don't typically see. It does kind of suck not knowing odds of what you're drawing to though.

It also seems extraordinarily unlikely that they have run out of ideas for brawls after 4 weeks.

They haven't done the 20+ Unstable Portal deck yet so that'll probably be a thing soon. There's still plenty of ideas to implement.

This weeks brawl is a bit tame, I've had multiple games where either me or my opponent has had a hand full of terrible cards (triple innervate for a druid I played against, while I drew double Blessed Champion when my board was empty and the game was in topdeck mode).
