One big question is when should I revolt to rep? The extra happiness would be really nice, but I don't know if it's worth the anarchy immediately. I'll get gold in 3 turns, and gems a few turns after that.

Well then it rather depends on whether you want to run specialists or not. With halfpriced forges your gold and gems will give you +4 happy which should be enough for a while right?
I'm quite a bit worried by the gigantic "kick me" note we have placed on our backs with the mids and runaway demos. Time for some precautionary defenders perhaps?

Edit: whoops forgot we didn't have MC yet. +2 happy is still good though

Yeah I'm making defenders. Just finished the first horse archer this turn! From here it's just a matter of finding the right balance between growth and defense. At some point I'd like to build some of those "granary" things that people are always talking about...

Argh... just when I was starting to relax, Sian comes knocking. He moved up a stack of 5 Horse Archers, 2 axemen right next to ImpossibleHQ (my northwest city). His timing was perfect... my horse archer was still one turn away, and my borders were one turn away from popping to block his road.

Anyway I moved in all my chariots, and penalty whipped an archer there. Switched all my other cities over to HAs... guess the granaries will have to wait a while! I'm working on hooking up copper too, but it will be 3 more turns.

I'll have winning odds with my archers there. Annoying to sacrifice all my chariots, but so be it. If he attacks I'm pretty sure (not 100% sure) that I can save the city. if he skips it and moves down, things will get dicey.

Oh and I got graphs on Scooter this turn. I like how Sian is ignoring him and focusing on me lol

Well, you knew Sian was making an army. And you look like a juicy target at the moment. You may need to whip some more horse archers in the south. But definitely get metals hooked up. He has so many horse archers that a spear or two will really eat him up.

I suspect he is going to attack that city, otherwise why move up axemen to protect the HAs from spears? If he was going to move around your territories, those axes would make him way too slow.

The axemen just seem like a mistake, really. Like you said, they really limit his mobility. He could cause me some real headaches by dashing towards my center right now, but then he has to leave them behind. If he was worried about spears, well, he still has to attack through them if he wants to take cities, so I think he'd be much better off with a stack of pure HA, or maybe HA plus a few chariots to attack axemen.

Hrm, yeah. He moved the Horse archers down (threatening Brisby next turn) and retreated the axes. I think I need to attack out with the chariots.

So here's the situation from the beginning of the turn. I'm just a little too spread out and out of position right now. The only way I could think of to defend Brisby was to attack his HAs with my chariots.

So I did so and... success! Won my 3rd battle, at 20% odds. Decided to just leave my chariots in place after that, no need to sacrifice any more.

So here's the situation now at end of turn. Brisby has 2 horse archers and 1 archer defending. ImpossibleHQ has 3 archers, 1 warrior defending. In total I've got 4 horse archers now, equal to Sian, and 2 of his are badly injured. Feeling confident again!
