So is this some kind of joke?

Yeah...

I whipped the settler and the overflow will complete the granary. I figured speed is necessary to claim that corn spot. I also moved the Immortal over there to cover.

We also met Oxy through his scouting warrior near Clammy.

I saved gold the last two turns to make a full run at IW. Immediate plans now, grow cap, settle Rice city, get a galley from cap, settle Island sugar, limp to construction?

Logged in to take a look, our immortal next to our fourth city spot met Molach's chariot...
Only William has copper out of our neighbours, but both Azza and Molach of course have horse.

A long overdue update:

T71 brings a time of relative prosperity for the Vodka-swilling Persians. Updates in parts, so you can continue to see how abundant prosperity has been mismanaged into relative prosperity. In brief, our cities are growing fine, but the geopolitical situation leaves much to be desired.

Domestic:

The capital, with its shiny new granary, grew from 4 to 6 in 3 turns, growth to 7 in 2 turns. We also got a lucky spread of Hinduism this turn (more on that later) which, if we revolt, will give us a happy cap of 9. May plan to whip a settler here in the future into a lighthouse, the food surplus is so large this place will grow like a weed.

Clammy grows slowly and will pick up the crabs shortly. This will help grow the capital's cottages and supplement with workers, settlers, and other seacraft. We'll need the granary here quick, and the lighthouse; our start requires lots of infra.

Mad Dog is a production powerhouse. Borders expand next turn which will let the city grab more food surplus to let it grow onto mines. After the barracks finishes, the plan is to pump out some Immortals for security and alternate with workers/settlers as need be. Granary is also done here too.

Belvedere was founded last turn and needed to be rushed to get here as this formerly thought-to-be-unpopulated section of the world is not. Started the Granary first to enable fast whipping of the lighthouse; which is probably better than the monument->10 turns-> clams. Growing onto 3/0/3 tiles will help with whippage.

Demos and Graphs:

The demos have improved considerably over the last 5 turns with the growth of the capital. Pop went from 8th to 3rd in 3 turns. Someone out there is whipping pretty hard right now. GNP stinks for a financial civ.

Power graphs are a concern. Molach teched IW a few turns ago for his AGG Praets. It turns out that neither Azza, Molach, or us have any domestic copper. As you'll soon see, Molach settled a strangely-placed city south of Belvedere, which only makes sense if there is Iron around. I believe iron is 2nd ring. His power is higher than ours, largely thanks to IW.

Azza's power is also higher than ours. He's dumped all of his EPs onto us. I'm expecting HAs within the near future.

Foreign:

We met two other people: WilliamLP and Oxyphenabutone. William is to the northeast of Belvedere and founded Hinduism (thanks for the spread!). He settled the only source of known copper and we already have a border with him. William doesn't know Azza. Thanks to sailing, we can trade with him. Oxy's scouting warrior found everyone in our neck of the woods, presumably he came from the East.

On that note, we have trade routes with Azza, Molach, and WilliamLP. Molach signed OB with us and we are currently getting +2 routes from him, while he gets nothing from us. And we're scouting his territory.

Here's the problem: Azza hates us (for good reason) and Molach will have the best UU coming online within a few turns. We really couldn't make a move without opening ourselves up to either one. I am hoping that Oxy shares a border with Molach to at least distract him.

Tech:

We can make conquest painful for Molach with the arrival of IW in a few turns, provided we actually have some nearby. After IW, we go to Masonry or Writing. We really need libraries, but walls will probably keep us alive. After writing, I can't see us doing any conquering until we get cats. We've ignored the bottom half of the tree, but getting an early spread of Hinduism makes Monotheism and Monarchy very attractive for a future double revolt into OR and HR.

Miscellany:

F8 and such.

Walls are not that good. It is better to have units instead.

Brief T72 update:

I replayed the end of our turn. Cap will grow to 7 and finish the monument. Size 7 will be the biggest city in the world. It can grow to 8, after whip anger, and we can revolt to Hinduism for a cap of 9.

We probably want to spam out another settler or 2 to claim the gold/rice and the GL cow/Ivory south of Clammy, west of Molach's presumed Iron city. IW in 3, EOT74.

Scouting in the east revealed Oxy's lands. I asked for OB, hoping we can move safely south to see if he has a border with Molach. There is a barb city to his north and it looks like he has lots of land.

There is ocean 3 tiles south of Molach's capital. His horse is south of his cap. Based on the fact that there is no copper anywhere, I'm guessing our Chinese-Persian-Roman Peninsula will be teeming with Iron.

WilliamLP moved a spearman directly 1NE of the corn in Belvedere. Our Immortal covering the worker would be toast, but there is an archer one SW of Belvedere who can protect the city and/or attack the spear if William gets frisky. I wouldn't blame him too much if he did it, it's a chance to get away with it, potentially plus 1 worker. We couldn't do much about it for some time either.

On that note, I accidentally clicked on WilliamLP's thread a few minutes ago. I backed out before I saw anything. I wanted to post something in the tech thread, but thought there may be a chance for other players to infer a correlation or that we've met. Any advice for me on this? I am fairly certain that I should just post the message, but want some moral support in light of some of the threads around here lately.

Here was my proposed message: Just to keep things on the up and up, I accidentally clicked on WilliamLP's thread, backed out immediately, and didn't see anything. Sorry!

Having experienced the same thing, I'd say that message is fine, and everyone should understand. I'm not sure how anyone could infer anything about the game itself from it either.
