[Spoilers] Fintourist and Old Harry have nothing to see here

Have I ever mentioned that this thread is the Bestest!

Just now caught up to your recent Ichabod shenanigans. Seriously I love your reports and you've delivered a ton of crazy attack schemes this game, even the ones that you didn't carry through were very entertaining. So just keep it up!

Will do!

Quote:I'm not keen on making a new enemy right now. Can't we kill one of the others first please? Anyway there's no guarantee that Mack or Scooter would pile on - I'd rather wait until (if) they actually attack and then be opportunist.

Yeah nod Just reminding/mentioning of this possibility smoke

Quote:It wouldn't hurt to know more about Plako's army and fleet though. Maybe send a couple of boats over to check along with Lunch...

Sounds good. I forgot to mention this, but Ichabod could have killed Lunch last turn, but amazingly our starting scout just keeps wandering. I'll send him towards WilliamLP/plako-front.

Thanks! Nice to hear that someone enjoys our struggle! I guess the fact that we are screwed when it comes to actual winning chances is good for our reporting, because we feel that we need to come up with something and try to find opportunities when they don't really even exist crazyeye

Winning's over-rated. This thread and those moves are awesome! hammer

I guess for Mindy and Ituralde we need attack plans for all our neighbours just in case the next hot war involves one of them:

Mackoti:
We can take a bunch of border cities and we can boat his west coast, but his east coast is pretty much invulnerable and then we face the mfg and tech leader in a war of attrition... If Scooter attacks him then we either ask some cities not to pile on too or we raze those border cities. If plako attacks him I don't see how we'd take advantage. Our best reason for attacking Mack is that he did it to us, and we want to make sure he doesn't win the game. Is that enough?

Plako:
Has a lot of islands for us to isolate. He has way more coastline than Ichabod did though, so any hope that he wouldn't come back at us has to rely on someone else doing him a bunch of damage too. If Mack attacks he'll be after the same territory we'd want, if Scooter attacks then he'll pin an awful lot of troops in west coast cities, and perhaps draw boats through a canal, meaning we could take islands and keep them.

Dtay:
He has two thirds of our power, but with cheap Kannone a land invasion is going to be tricky. We could boat his island easily, and then possibly make inroads on his coasts, but right now he has Ships of the Line and Ironclads, so we're behind on tech there too. If we get to destroyers before him things would look up, but that could be wishful thinking. If Scooter or Commodore attack his east coast we could give it a couple of turns before piling in on a land attack towards his west coast, no-one else has an option for attacking him frown.

Ichabod:
Has a bunch of land that we'd find very useful, but it's guarded by so many knights and cats. If we could take a city and perhaps unload enough Machine Guns into it then we could use that beach head to roll him up, but putting all our power over there leaves us exposed to dtay and Mack. If William attacks then this plan becomes easier, if Plako rolls up William and then starts on Ichabod I don't know how long we'd get to keep any conquests we made...

So the conclusion is: Dunno yet. Perhaps get some scouts out to see what the major armies of the world are up to - Mack, Scooter and Plako - so that we can be prepared if taking advantage is a possibility.

thumbsup Very nicely summarized.

The biggest problem of that list is that it does not include options like Azza, Poked Bear or WilliamLP (and it did not include Bacchus a while back) :P

I hadn't realised it was banned, but I'm not a fan of it either, at least at the level of interpretation it's being used for lately.

Turn 221

Back to normal peaceful reality, sorry! This level of thread activity has been very nice! bow

WilliamLP and plako agreed on peace, which makes my crazy invasion plan even crazier. tongue Plako suicided a caravel against our privateer for some reason (unit costs? crazyeye). Well, 1 free XP point for us.

I did the scouting moves at all the fronts and no threatening movements were detected. Should we declare-peace mackoti next turn again? There would be some trade route gold to be gained if we would stay peaceful for some turns but from practical perspective playing turns is a lot more stressfree when our huge border is secured with enforced peace. In the current situation I think I could live with both options though.

So what do we do with Ichabod?

Do we want to keep blockading BridgeGojoAv and continue forward and pillage+blockade that bay where Ichabod has his 2 remaining coastal cities? BridgeGojoAv isn't falling as Ichabod put some knights in there (well it would not have fallen in any case because our troops are so wounded). The downside of blockading and pillaging compared to peace is that it probably ensures that Ichabod wants to keep building navy and remove us while we don't really gain that much because we are not really blocking any production, mainly just some commerce. So what do you think OH, let's continue being annoying or propose peace? (Ichabod currently has 50 gold saved and he just finished Rifling)

Civics:

We can revolt again next turn if we want. From current civics, Representation, Bureaucracy, Free Market and Caste are probably all clear choices and we want to stay in them for a while. Our situation probably allows us to lock ourselves out of nationhood and slavery for 5 further turns. So the question is OR vs. Theocracy. I think we want Theocracy again because we have a good bunch of units waiting to be born, but I might be tempted to still spend one extra turn in OR, because we indeed have some infra builds in progress. What do you think? I need to do some university stuff, but can finish the turn in couple of hours.
