Nice work guys, we probably lose but we made a game of it smile

Hmm, could go in several directions here:

- a Secretary might be tasked with sorting MAIL and COVER letters (Envelope might've been clued instead?)
- a Secretary needs an EYE for details
- a RULER might have a bureaucracy full of Secretaries (or a Secretary might use a RULER as a straightedge, perhaps?)
- a Secretary might tell you to take a CHAIR and wait
- you can outsource Secretarial work to an agency (AGENT)

Not as clear a clue as I was hoping for, but on reflection probably clear enough.

The two words that stand out the most relate to the core functions of a Secretary:
MAIL - sorting and responding to mail and email
CHAIR - being seated in reception, welcoming visitors and asking them to take a seat

Of those, I think MAIL is stronger. And I expect any other pairing with MAIL to have been clued differently:
MAIL + COVER (a Secretary can provide cover for your absence) would be Envelope.
MAIL + AGENT (a Secretary can act on your behalf) would be Postman.

After spoilers:
Didn't consider some other options, but the same principle applies:
MAIL + RULER would be Stationery.
MAIL + EYE would probably be Black. (OLIVE is a risk, but we'd have to reason around it.)

Agreed, after some eliminations for alternative clues, I like MAIL + CHAIR here.

Also in favor of CHAIR: I believe a narrow wheeled chair with no armrests is called a secretary style chair.

Mail is blue
Chair is blue

Blue team wins! Great job, team.

Thoughts coming up in a bit.

Ah very close. Flipper 2 at the end I presume?

I was quite confident about clearing the board in three turns.

First off was Creature 4. Having exactly four animals/mythological creatures that were all blue was a nice strike of luck. That immediately put a lot of pressure on the reds. Also, HAND and THUMB were easy to pair so WK would need to come up with something spectacular to clear his board in two turns. Fwiw, I don`t think that`s realistic. I thought that maybe COTTON, FIELD, SUIT AND FOOT could be clued together but how do you clue the remaining words?

Finger 3 was indeed meant to pick up the two easy hand-related words plus CROSS. The reds did get a lot of words on that second round and had to hope that the two remaining words would be awkward to pair. The more I thought about it, the less I liked it because MAIL and CHAIR don`t really have a lot in common but as the team correctly inferred, there were better options for MAIL + other words. I almost clued GLUE instead but thought that SECRETARY would hint that CHAIR was our last remaining word.

All in all, that was a very good blue board and the team followed my reasoning all the way. If the assassin had been, say, HAND or DOG instead of MOSCOW - that would have complicated things.
