Unfortunately my read on Yuris at this point is that he won't defect vs scooter - otherwise he wouldn't have wanted revenge for the one city. Bummer, but nothing to do but wait and see

After I paid him the 30 gpt bribe, he went and took two cities off Cairo. So who excactly is going to help him versus the player with a +40% scorelead, and 34 cities to his 21, who is teching liberalism while he techs Gunpowder?



Superdeath - a tough cookie but already lost some cities.
Cairo - Yuri just took two cities off him.
Me - even if I wanted to help, (he's still spending espionage on me, as if he wants me to have a hard time tracking his troop movements) I am backward on research because he forced me into two big whipping rounds, first with swords in galleys then with samurai in galleons.

Oh and I forgot to say I sent him clam-clam a while back and he responded in kind, before the samurai-galleon menace, so I can't trust his diplo.

Now of course it makes sense for the 2nd strongest player to attack the 5th (I was 5th before SD and Cairo got trimmed) player, rather than sacrifice himself against the strongest player.
But in this case, Scooter's lead over Yuri is insurmountable, and Scooter can never be defeated by Yuri without a couple of other players helping out.

Eh... he can just take my money and have fun elsewhere, hopefully he will start thinking about scooter more.

Maybe I should switch my espionage from Yuri to Scooter, since Yuri is spending it on me. It was very cool and useful back when I saw his whole empire though, otherwise I might've died to the galleons.

Still only 160 gpt. How come two players have vassalage+theocracy, isn't 7 XP no better than 5 XP?

I felt less petty and sent yuri an iron-iron, war with scooter, 30 gold trade. Because researching astronomy, making galleons, and somehow having worthwhile units in the galleons would likely take me that long (30 turns). I wonder if SD is about to attack Cairo? I can do without. Got to 185 gold this turn, maybe the yuri bribe expired, forgot to check.

Damn, seems like there's a lot of garrisons on borders that aren't with scooter. Meanwhile when scooter began trimming SD, Yuri had like 1 archer in his nearest city to scooter...

Perhaps there is still hope if a multi civ dogpile on scooter can be arranged. It will definitely need galleons though.
