SG3-Monarch Can't Hold Me!

Should be pretty easy turns, so I'll play them now.

T230: End the turn

T231: Nothing special...

T232: SoL and Hermitage done. Building more cultural buildings in our 3 legendarys. We need 2 more Cathedrals in Bibrace...

T233: Christianity in Scapegoat

T234: Mansu is killed, thanks Cyrus! But Cyrus revolts to FR....

T235: GA ends!

T236: ...

T237: Revolt in Dover! Getting all Spy's in place as suggested earlier.

T238: GA born in UP, move him towards Bibrace

T239: We can trade Rep Parts with Cyrus to get us towards Rifling if we want to. Ragnar and Ghengi sign a defensive pact. We have to wait 8 more turns since I started the Christian Cathedral in Bibrace (last one we need).

T240: Nothing special again.

We're almost ready to go 100% culture! I wonder how fast we get to victory. We've got a lot of GP hanging around and a few more will be born in the next 20t.

Good luck, TT!

Gold Ergo Sum Wrote:T-Hawk,

I was more curious about what you thought about when to start the cultural slider. I think we discussed the Rifling tech earlier.

Is my idea to stockpile commerce until we have the multiplier buildings in place the right idea, or should we be running it already?

Stockpiling gold to run deficit-culture sounds like a good move. But in my experience, the problem is that expenses stay low enough to cover entirely by the non-legendary cities building Wealth. An efficient culture victory doesn't have high expenses: you're not building units, or expanding past 9-10 cities, or researching to corporations. I've had a number of culture victories end up with 1000-2000 gold in the bank that went unused thanks to Wealth. I might stockpile a bit of gold, but not more than 500.

Right I've played my set too.

T240 - We are Genghis' worst enemy and he is in military build up. Gift Divine Right and he is cautious.

T241 - Trades with Genghis. Replaceable Parts +170g for Astronomy.
Also, we get Dye, Gems, Silver, Incense and Wine for surplus resources and 21g per turn.

T242 - Nada

T243 - Brennus demands Astronomy. Fair enough. Dover flips to us! That will give us a nice thing to give back to Cyrus is he ever gets unhappy with us or we need to buy him into a war. Another Engineer in Bibracte, use spare to rush Globe totally in Tyr.

T244 - Start building culture and wealth - wait for cathedral to finish to run 100% culture.

T245 - nada

T246 - still waiting

T247 - Cathedral finished in Bibracte. Set to build culture.

T248 - Move Great Artists from GV to Tyr. GV at the moment will go legendary 20ish turns before the other two.

T249 - Nada.

T250 - Get Rifling and 160g from Ragnar for Drama, Music, Divine Right & Education. Ragnar now also pleased with us!

Here is our empire!

Here is the victory conditions screen, showing how many turns we have until they all turn legendary.

We have the Artists ready to bomb when it gets closer, and I'm sure we'll have some more in time.

Thoughts

We probably want to go into Universal Suffrage with all that gold. We can buy techs, make people war with it and also rush troops if we need them. After the screenshots, I upgraded all our Muskets in scapegoat but we still have over 16000 gold! Running all the others on wealth means we are barely losing anything too (remember the 21g per turn going to Genghis!).

Brennus revolted into Emancipation too at some point, we shoudn't have a happiness problem due to 100% culture but best be aware.

I think we should avoid scientific method like the plague and make the most of our Monastary and Parthenon benefits for as long as we can. We have money security.

Ragnar and Cyrus are now Pleased with us and Genghis is cautious but becoming a decent trading partner too. We should be able to buy in enough people to keep an eye on Brennus should he want to mess with us.

One tech we need to buy as soon as someone lets us is Mil tradition, then we can upgrade all our WEs to Cavalry and all is well!

Agree, TT! Good to have Rifling in.
Now we can feel pretty safe.
We could upgrade everything to Riflemen to be extra sure... lol

Took a look at the save...

Please build a Cothon in Bribrace! Will only take 1 turn and we get a lot more artists to hire.
And we should fire the spy in Dover.

We really need to hold off on popping GAges until we turn on the culture slider.

How is operation +50% culture buildings coming along? Are we at all close to finishing them in each Legendary and turning on the culture slider?
Reply

Hey GES, if you read TT's turns, you'll see that all is in place and that we are running the culture slider.... alright

Yeah, I posted that after having read only Tatan's turns. I must've missed all the other turns or my post popped up about 2 days late.

I am still in Hawaii. I am leaving today. I head straight from the airport to work in the morning. I should be able to play in the next 48 hours.

16000 gold! When I said to build gold for the full culture slider, I don't think I ever imagined we'd get more than 2-3k. That is crazy. We definitely should've kicked on that culture slider 10-15 turns earlier. Oh well, it was my idea and you live and learn. These turns should be simple now.

Get rid of the Engineer in Tyr and hire four more Artists.

Fire two Scientists and a Merchant in GV and pull us off two mines to hire 5 Artists.

Fire a citizen and pull us off some mines to hire 7 Artists in Bibracte. Put us on Cothon and then Market to get rid of -5 unhealthiness to hire more Artists. Revolt to US to rush buy these.

Fire 4 Prophets in Vienne because that city will pop a GProphet at 62%. Now that city will never produce another GP. Then think about it, and rehire them. We need a different type of GPerson to trigger another GAge.

Stop building wealth due to all of our cash and start building Espionage buildings in all the other cities so that we can fight any nonsense by the AIs.

T251: Rush buy Security Bureaus everywhere now that we have a hammer into them. Now will get spies everywhere. Then back to Rifles and Wealth. Cothon in Bibracte.

T252: Damn GEngineer born in Tyr. Building Spies, mostly at 1-turn throughout the empire. Back on building culture in Tyr. Market in Bibracte. Tons of Artists there now.

T253: Oh crap. I get a screen pop up telling me Ragnar DOW'd us, and that isn't the worst of our problems, because Genghis Khan also DOW'd us! Upgrade our Rifles to Muskets in multiple places. GK and Ragnar need to come at us with navy, so I am rushing Galleons all over the coast. Looks like they showed up with 1-2 Galleons and 3-4 Caravels. Nothing we cannot handle so far.

T254: Kill a GK caravel and a Ragnar caravel. Will continue to churn out galleons.

T255: Trade Galleon for Galleon w/ GK. Ragnar seems spent already. Hire Vienne into -7 starvation to speed up GPerson in Vienne. A couple more Galleons show up in the south from GK.

T256: Oh goodie, we get a random event that lowers our relations with Brennus by -1. Great.

And then wow. At 5% odds or lower, we get ANOTHER GENGINEER!!! So much for another GAge. Use the GEngineer to lightbulb Corporations. Why not I figured? Attack at 50/50 Galleon on Galleon. We lose and GK Galleon down to only 3.2. Attack with promoted Caravel at 47%. Lose and do no damage. banghead Throw a Galleon at promoted GK at 27% and lose, but reduce down to .4. Throw another Galleon at GK at 27% and win.

T257: Doof GK lands 3 Curaissers and a Crossbowman near UP. Clean them up with 3 Rifles at 95% and one Elephant at 87%.

T258: Won a few naval battles and starting to get some promoted Galleons. Bringing some more over to the west coast. We're going to be in good shape, I think.

T259: Counter-espionage performed against Brennus. Massing ships to get rid of GK's navy near Cyrus's city.

I spent a lot of gold early being too cocky about our relationships with GK and Ragnar. I was more worried about building Espionage buildings to protect our Legendaries from shenanigans. And I spent a ton of money upgrading to rifles and rush buying Galleons to get control of the seas. We now have about 3000 gold in the bank at -130gpt. I said these last few turns were going to be easy, but not so much now. We are probably 40-ish turns from winning this game, and it might be an ugly, slow slog. Hopefully we can pop a GAge at some point.

If we tech anything else, it should probably be Chemistry so that we can start churning Frigates in place of Galleons. There really is no reasonable land route for GK or Ragnar to attack us.

GK and Ragnar still refuse to speak with us, and Cyrus is too big of a wus to intervene. Thanks alot.

As many specialists as we are running, we might consider leaving Uni Suff and going to Representation to get some marginal tech advancement.

Have fun Kyan.

Wow! You get the interesting turns, GES!
Thankfully we had a ton of money in the bank....

Good job fighting them off.
I do suggest we tech Chemistry for a naval advantage.

Good luck, Kyan!
