I honestly just thought it was still Team 3's turn. Clearly, I need to just stop trusting the tracker to give me accurate information.
You shouldn't rely on this thread to let you know if your up, given that it was never a rule to post when your team is done. If it helps out though, I'll post whenever I'm the last to play on Team 3 (as was the case this turn).
BTW, while Civstats may not clearly state who's turn it is, if everyone on the previous team has logged in recently then it's reasonably safe to assume that your up.

I suppose we should post 'team turn complete' as the email thing isn't working yet. I guess we are going to play our turn and keep going.
I'd like to reiterate that we should get an admin.

What do you want? Do you want to play? This isn't like we're making a decision for you. You have to make the decision of whether you're going to play or not. You have to tell us are you going to take this on? Is your team going to play?
I'm gonna go ahead and play my turn before I go to bed tonight. But really guys you have to tell us whats up.

Team 3 is up.
It is officially turn 9.

That's sure to solve everything!
Is there even one decision an admin would have helped with? We agreed to reload by consensus (with no team's even voting against it) and we've also come to the consensus that we won't keep reloading without good cause. Likewise if Team 4 doesn't play consistently they will be replaced.

@Team 4 - Please just watch who logs in on Civstats or simply log into the game from time to time. And 18 hour window should be plenty for one of you to check the game to see if you're up.

I'd like to play, but I think it's pretty clear I have not been playing up to snuff, if not in time than nothing else. If I keep delaying it, then I'm probably doing more harm than good playing and you should replace me to keep the pace up. That is my opinion, anyway.

Well, I guess Team 1 will see to it that Team 4 gets replaced then if it comes to it.

I would say that looking for a replacement team (with emphasis on the word team) for Team 4 should probably be starting now.
In hindsight I think putting all the 'rejects' in one team was a mistake as we were then a team who hadn't chosen each other and had little/no synergy from the start unlike the other teams.
We can stumble along but it would just make the game less credible and we'd just keep revisiting this issue until we addressed it.

this was discussed in the pre-game thread. That is, that the "best" way to make fair teams was to distribute the most qualified players as "captains" and have a mix of skill levels on each team. However, the desire for team synergy made this plan undesirable. Retrospectively, a strong 3 team game would have been best, probably. Finding a whole team's worth of players who are interested but aren't already on a team will be.... challenging.

I'm disappointed that Team 4 is asking to be replaced during the first dozen turns, but if that's what we have to do then lets give it a shot.
I disagree that letting players pick their own teams is a bad system though. I didn't ask to play with Speaker and Sullla because I'm some pro civ player (as my performance in RB Pitboss and PBEMs should make clear), I wanted to play with them because I know we get along well and (more importantly) communicate well. There are other players I'd consider playing a game like this with, and some I'd not want to, just like I know there are some players that wouldn't want to play with me. The important thing though is to do some minimal level of introspection before the game starts. If the answer to "can I work with these people and ensure the turn gets played for the next several months" isn't "yes" then the decision should be to not play. I don't want to point fingers at anyone specifically in Team 4 since I understand situations like this are complex, but I can't overemphasize that Pitboss games in particular require and deserve a certain amount of seriousness when committing to play.
