Gaspar Wrote:My Catwalk comment was just a generic quick analysis, the type of which I make all the time, and I standby due to my insight into his personality - I do not believe Catwalk has the comportment to play actively as scum. That's not an insult or slight, just my perception of his personality. That's all. My Injera vote is largely due to what I find a peculiar early defense of what was a fairly meaningless comment. That's a scum read.

Yeah, this is tiresome. Let's mince words. We're not seeing eye-to-eye here because you think my accusation against you is based on the content of your observation. It's not; I agree with it 100%. The issue is context. You used it to defend your Catwalk vote, with the implication that he'd play up obligations to better lurk. I've tried to read that comment other ways and I just can't.

I honestly don't see how even if I took you at face value that's scummy. So I mixed humor and serious; blase vote and serious vote. Do you seriously think that I'm scum because I felt like I had to justify a day one vote? It just makes no sense...

Which really is the crux of my argument against you. You've played with me before so you know me better than this. And you also know better than the jump in front of bullets for someone. So the only thing I can think is that I struck a nerve back there and this is you inventing a crusade to cover it.

No matter how many times I slice it, you come off scummier than anyone else to me today.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Lewwyn Wrote:The other big argument here is thestick and I'm on board to a point. My only issue is he's only got one post so we can call this a definitive lynch. So come on thestick.

On board to what point? As I asked Bigger, what's your argument for lynching thestick in your own words?

As far as thestick situation, I have some thoughts but I'd really like to see him defend himself before I share anything - a bit concerned that he's fallen off the face of the earth. Way too many day 1 lurkers btw - hopefully its just because of the weekend and we're not headed towards Sarelnpalooza here.

I believe unnecessarily justifying votes is a wolf tell.

I actually don't think either of us knows each other very well, though we probably should by now. I jump in front of bullets for "defenseless" players as an instinct. The "newbie protection" rule has become ingrained in RBWW culture in large part because I've kicked and screamed enough times that no one even thinks twice about it anymore. And yes, I do it as a both a wolf and villager, so standing up for an AFK Catwalk is not a village tell, but if you knew me you'd know it's not a scum tell either.

The core reason that I'm okay with voting for thestick is that I feel his post was, yes, A) lazy B) Trying WAY too hard. I'm on board to that point and there's a lot to be said for that much. I'm not so much on board with the questions bit being out of line for thestick. Last game had a similar feel in terms of style for him, but then I suppose I suspected him in that game as well. This time though there's no private convo he can whip out to prove his villageryness.

I'm keeping my vote on him for now, but I really don't want to lynch thestick on just one post.

Fake edit: To clarify, I don't think anyone else is exceptionally suspicious right now and I'm not sure what to think of Gaspar/Injera.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

Feels good to be back. I'm sure I'll be singing a different tune in like 24 hours, so let's enjoy it for the moment.

Rowain, looks like you're going to have some competition for Gaspar fan club president. Obvscumalwe will also be in the mix before too long. Going to definitely need to up t-shirt production.

(Catwalk vote was a joke vote, but not going to lie that starting the game with that post seems very Molach-ian. Catwalk also strikes me as someone who would lurk if scum, since he'd probably not be at all comfortable with it.)
...
On the first point, joke vote was probably the wrong term, it wasn't funny. It was just a first vote, meaningless. But I had a little germ of an insight, so I threw it out there. Take it or leave it or overreact to it.
I don't see why you'd call that anything but a joke vote, that's the definition of a joke vote. Your comment in parenthesis strikes me as peculiar, especially after you later clarify that you had a little gem of an insight after someone else started throwing some mud my way. I made a brief post, easy to analyze and probably easily attracting attention. Did the little gem happen after it looked like there was an opening to have me lynched? Is it a coincidence that it happened right as you got two votes on you? Could it be (as Ancient Alien Astronaut theory suggests) that the Pyramids were built by extra-terrestrials? You have much to answer for Gaspar!

Just hit edit by mistake, sorry (didn't edit anything). Wanted to put Gaspar in red as well.

WTF? I had to read this like 5 times before I even think I understand what you're trying to say. Are you saying that Gaspar fabricated "a little gem of insight" (Also wtf is this BTW) as a result of having 2 extremely early votes that didn't really mean much? That he was spooked into coming after you? Or are you saying you intentionally posted what you posted in order to "trap" some unwitting wolf in your web? I mean... WTF. Catwalk
