I like the visuals of the map a lot and the capture mode seems like it will have a lot of interesting strategic decisions for teams to make.

VarisNox Wrote:Are you talking about Dreamhack? The observer mode they've used in most tournaments, including the previous WCG was a weird 6th summoner spot with a special summoner spell that revealed the map. Dreamhack had a prototype of their new observer system, and that was not that long ago. In one of their announcement posts, they did mention that they have a more recent and stable build that they are also bringing to PAX, so at least they're continuing its development and haven't dropped it completely like magma chamber.

Yes, that thing that they seem to keep hidden from the rest of us who want to see awesomely casted games. Seriously. HoNCast did wonders for getting HoN publicity just by casting replays or streaming big high-level scrims. How come only the finals get this awesome observer mode????

Why not work on it? I get the concept of sunk cost, but when the alternatives are 1) nothing or 2) balance tweaks to existing champs why not finish a map?

I've said it before - Riot operates like a late-90s startup. They have a popular idea which is somewhat difficult to monetize. They've grown their staff what, 4x? 10x?, and yet their output has stayed about the same.

If the problem is that as the number of champs grows it takes more and more resources to balance them then I'd recommend releasing fewer champs plus doing less "neft then buff" or "buff then nerf" champ tweaking. I'd say 75% of the champs are at least balanced enough where flavor of the month popularity rather than power is the primary determinant of what's played, and as long as the other 25% are not overpowered then the resources spent on constantly tweaking champs can be redirected to tweaking balance of new maps and new game modes. Fix exploits or badly OP champs on a need basis, but don't spend 2/3 your resources to patch 30 champs every 2 weeks.

Well, I like LoL as it is. New content is just a plus.

I'm pretty sure the reason that magma chamber got shelved is because they couldn't make it a compelling, fun alternative to Summoner's rift.

Instead they put a lot of their resources into this new dominion mode, which is a new map and a new way of playing. It seems to have had a lot of effort put into it, the fact that they have made items just to use on dominion mode attests to that.

Hey Sullla or Speaker, either of you have a replay of that game we played tonight? I didn't have LoL Replay running, and I really want to have that one.
