Classical Era itself was a very cool start.

Is this a signup? Or a conditional sign-up if it’s classical era?

Yeah I wasn't a fan of advanced start in 80 (will say more once the game is done), but wouldn't mind another game with classical start (not that I have anything against ancient)

This is a great idea for a game. I'm not up for playing, but if anyone wants a dedlurker let me know and I'll try to follow along. If you are (un)lucky I may even catch the obsessive micromanagement bug for your civ.

Any more interest, for a start in a couple weeks after Thanksgiving?
For a map script: Cylindrical wrap Lakes with a medium or high sea level would allow for navy to have some degree of impact via lake chaining without too much forking. Default map size is much more cramped than I was thinking, but if we go up a size and do 4 players on large (w/ Temperate climate) or 5/6 players on Huge (w/ Cold climate) that gives about about 15-ish tiles to the nearest neighbor.
Alternatively an AI Survivor style Pangaea with a ring of ocean around the perimeter and would work as well. But again I'd go up a size to give a roomy interior, with 3-city elimination being the mechanism for reducing the late game slog.

You can consider me officially in if you're planning a mid-December start. Even if Pitboss 80 isn't wrapped up by then, I should be ok to play early turns in a new one

I kinda like this idea. Low Sea Level will make the continent a bit bigger, which is probably what we want here. Also, here's the shoreline options as a reminder.
I think I'm OK with a good bit of randomness here? I suspect if anyone gets a huge lead, the allure of 3 city elim will result in a pretty dynamic game with dogpiles being a constant threat. Basically, I think 3 city elim + Pangaea will result in players being somewhat self-balancing.

If you'd be up for teaming, I'd be up for prime turnplayer here.
Prefer Classic Era start, but willing either way.

Welcome Yuris and Commodore! We'll leave the signups for now. I'm not in a rush to get started before Thanksgiving so maybe we can pick up one or two more. I'm fine with either classical era, or ancient with +1 starting tech.
Scooter, I was also leaning towards Pangea with a preference for "Solid" shorline.
I've never played classical start so I loaded a quick test game and ... wow, classical raging barbs on large map is a variant in itself. Turn 35, had 9 barbs (4 axes, 1 spear, 1 archer, 3 warriors) in my territory ![yikes yikes](https://www.realmsbeyond.net/forums/images/smilies/yikes.gif) and 10 turns later there was a fresh invasion by 8 barb axes plus a half dozen warriors/archers. I'm ditching the raging barbs setting if we go Classical.
