Quote:Fallout is the return of the NPC that don't always cooperate. Already had to reload when Ian shot the good guys...
The thing with NPCs is while they are always good help, they can also screw up everything. For example, give Ian a burst firing weapon and go do HtH on your enemies. You'll be shattered because he won't, oh I don't know, do some flanking or whatever. A hilarious example of it was when in Fallout 2 I gave Sulik a 10mm SMG. I was killing rats in some cave, and when I ended this boring business he decided that a little pig rat is worth unloading a burstfire. Effect? I got a nice animation of me shattering to pieces (about -200 hp...).
Quote:First animal as a NPC - how did I wind up with a dog the keeps following me named dogmeat?
Reference to Mad Max's dog Dogmeat. He joins you if you feed him with an iguana (did you find out about it's origins yet? or if you show up in a Leather Jacket. (I recon that there was a guy who won the whole game wearing a Leather Jacket. Why? Because his character looked so awesome. )
BTW: Yesterday I finally got my hands on an original game of Fallout. I played Fallout 2 so I eagerly decided to play it's precedessor.
Yesterday: I played straightforward from 8 p.m to 4 a.m...
Today: I watched Star Trek IV: Voyage Home, ate something, turned the computer on, turned on Fallout and... There it goes, from 3 p.m to 10 p.m.
But I have FINISHED it. And while the game isn't really engaging (end game, I had the best armor and the best energy weapon. I had 13 levels out of available 21. Most of the mutants died with a single shot from my Turbo Plasma Rifle.) - the ending is pretty awesome. And there's
(rot13 alert)
BTW: Do you know how to handle Energy Weapons? If not, then try to learn it. Yes, you can win the game and progress through the endgame areas without violence. But it's soooo fun to romp through all the baddies and watching them *poof!* after being shot by a plasma rifle. And you will possibly need something to fight off enemies on the wasteland. Big Guns suck, on the other hand.
