Bwahahaha!

There is so much going on right now, you know. Stop by the RBPB3 forum if you want to read 17 discussions of what's hot and what's not in leader/civ combos. But I guess you've sensibly opted to stay unspoilered for that game. smile

Err... I'd comment on your game but I don't have anything sensible to say right now.
I have to run.

Turn 1

Map of the territory so far. I think I'm glad that didn't move and settle 7 from current location, else that would have very much limited putting any other cities there. I believe the rule is you need to be three tiles away to settle another city? So if I'd settled there that entire area would be taken, only places left would be 888 889. With current location I can still stick a city where my scout is and then I'm still good to go at the 889 or the desert tile east of it for my next city.

Now I just need to hunker down soon and do some math to figure out best build paths (or not).

Turn 2

Moved scout 69, no new resources revealed. Nothing more really to add to it smile Yeah these turns are boring.

Turn 3 yay

Borders popped so got to see a bit further south. Namely get to see bananas and more clams down there. Scout moves further north and finds me some stone in the desert. Scout also visited a village who promptly gave him 16 gold to go away.

Here is the world according to Persia for your viewing pleasure:

4 - Wouldn't be Persia without deserts now would it? frown Scout move 97 and discovered just how large the desert is too my north. Considering how small landmasses are it certainly is poor that a good chunk of mine is relatively useless. At least I found gold in the desert to make up for it in part.

Scout will move up north to the forests next turn which seems to be coming to another choke point or perhaps the tip of the land in that direction. Either way when I circle back down I'll follow the eastern shore and hope there are some fish, clams or crabs to at least make it somewhat worthwhile putting a city in the desert at some point.

Also had a chat with France who's wanting to be able to trade around IW at some point (maybe around turn 60). I said I'm open to the idea. May be better trade earlier if possible so I can clear the jungles to my south. Wonder if he's got jungle on his island too to clear or what the reasons are for wanting to go IW.

Chat with France Wrote:Krill PBEM2: are you playing in RBPB3?
Yaz: Nope, got back from my trip too late to join.
Yaz: Trying to keep myself unspoiled though in case somebody drops.
Krill PBEM2: cool
Krill PBEM2: I think Ruff is going afk for 10 days
Krill PBEM2: so he could do with a sub for that time
Krill PBEM2: I think
Krill PBEM2: probably worth asking about if you want to play.
Yaz: Well I'll keep an eye on the IT thread. Problem with subbing for 10 days is you're spoiled if somebody else drops out completely.
Krill PBEM2: true
Krill PBEM2: Do you know of any themes I could use for RBPB3?
Yaz: Nope frown Can't even think one up for this game heh
Yaz: Well guess the deal won't happen between everyone as somebody already refused the terms frown
Krill PBEM2: If you care to tell me who we can make sure they regret it.
Yaz: lol out for blood already? :P
Krill PBEM2: god no
Krill PBEM2: but we could violate their waters with workboats to annoy them!
Krill PBEM2: maybe even choke their seafood if they haven't been hooked up yet smile
Yaz: I'll think about it smile Not sure I want to start breaking diplomatic trust already.
Krill PBEM2: Probably a wise idea smile
Krill - France: Yo dude, you there?
Yaz: I am now
Krill - France: Cool smile
Krill - France: Are you interested in a trade for IW?
Yaz: I could be smile
Yaz: What were you thinking of?
Krill - France: I don't really know
Krill - France: I'm just trying to make sure I don;t tech IW and then find myself locked out of tech trades and in a 5v1
Yaz: Have you heard anything much diplomatically since we last talked?
Krill - France: Not really
Krill - France: Worked the past 2 days, and been focussing on RBPB3
Yaz: Well I guess if you've heard anything you've heard more than me. And witht he turns going so slow I haven't bothered sending any messages.
Yaz: If you go IW though I'd be willing to work something out.
Krill - France: TBH, I'd probably be interested in trading it for a few small techs from the ancient era, or using IW and a small tech to pay for somethign larger
Krill - France: so alot depends on how you want to tech
Krill - France: Take your time and figure out what you want to do, I'm always contactable at this email address smile
Yaz: Yeah I'll get right on figuring out what to tell you about my tech path lol j/k
Yaz: Any idea about when you'd be wanting to do the trade though? Would obviously affect what I could offer.
Krill - France: I think at least one peson has to be heading for alphabet early on
Krill - France: so I don;t see it as all that difficult to get a trade set up by turn 60
Yaz: OK, I'll keep it mind and see how things look plan wise.

Right it's been a while since an update so I'll write one up for you guys tomorrow smile For now I'll leave you with:

Seems your early 20-turn NAP diplomacy already pays off. That is if Japan honors it.

Good luck in the game Yaz! Interesting to see how you'll handle diplomacy since I did that for us in RPB2. It was wise to create NAP's already, but starting with a worker is always risky. Desert in the north and jungle in the south, geez! alright

I was going to be your dedicated lurker, but now with that warrior over there, I can't resist to check out other threads! I'll still be watching but probably not posting to avoid spoilage smile

PS. It's usually a good idea to leave the first post relatively spoiler-free. If you scroll over a topic name in the index, then you'll get a popup with text in it from the starting post. Yours describes your capital.

Yup smile I feel better about my early negotiations now, even pushing when others thought there was no point as chances of meeting were nil.

Chat with Japan Wrote:me: You're looking pretty scary
ruff.hi: hi Yaz
how do you mean?
me: You've got some club waving fool on my border sitting on top of a hill yelling at me :P
ruff.hi: right - I was all set to invade and kill you next turn but then I remembered that NAP I signed
when I signed it - I thought it was totally worthless
turns it it saved your bacon!
me: smile
Good to hear it sounds like you're planning on honoring it. Nice to know who can be trusted.
ruff.hi: anyway - Hello from Japan
Japan will always honour its agreements
me: Greetings from Persia. Want a rug?
ruff.hi: Does it fly>
me: It does. But only when it wants to.
ruff.hi: Yeah - its bad when the furniture gets tempermental
me: No kidding.
Anyways I just wanted to say high, check in that you weren't planning on killing me. If you have any interest in trades or agreements though let me know. Persia is a peaceful group smile
ruff.hi: Japan is always willing to talk to Persia. Just drop on over for Tea and friendly discussion
me: By the way, roughly how close are we? Did you pretty much beeline to me?
ruff.hi: I'm in the middle of playing my pbem1 turn so I cannot talk much
me: ah smile Good luck

So he seems to be willing to follow his agreements.

Quote:darrell: I got about 3 minutes smile
Yaz: Sure
darrell: I am planning on going failry hard for Judaism
darrell: I'm going to also tell you along the way I plan on going for the Great LIghthouse, the techs are kind of similar
darrell: that is free info smile
darrell: From a tech trade perspective, I guess Krill is offering you IW (it is what he offered me). I'm interested in Alphabet, so I'm sure we can work something ot.
darrell: Uh...wait a sec
darrell: Sorry dude.
darrell: I got to run in like 20 seconds frown
Yaz: Ok well we won't colide for Judaism so we're good there smile
Yaz: We shoudl talk about what if anything either of us is trading to Krill so we dont' just let him broker our techs around.
darrell: Okay...I agree with that. He's a sneaky MP veteran
Yaz: Yeah he sure is smile
darrell: I found out that while he was talking to me he's been talking to others. NOt saying that is underhanded, but I was telling him who I was talking with just to be honest.
Yaz: Since you gave me some free info I'll give you some. I just found Japan, or more accurately Japan found me.
darrell: I think I am going to be asking for no brokering clauses with him on techs I trade to him. That seems the safest way to go. I'm willing to giv eyou the same thing.
Yaz: So if you haven't found somebody then keep in mind they may be close
darrell: Great! I have not found anyone yet. I am kind of south of the equator I believe, based on resources.
darrell: Okay man I totally go to book...I definitely want to chat again, its much easier than email.
Yaz: Yup cya

Another quick chat. As this mentions Krill has been trying to sell his IW around to a bunch of people and I've been putting off committing to anything but said I'd try to get him some options today. There's no restrictions though so I'd like to try to make sure I don't give it to him and find out he's already lined deals up to my tech to others as well.

In some ways with no restrictions on tech trading I'm almost wanting to beeline alphabet, get some workboats finding people and then be the hub of tech trading for a bit. I may need to look at how viable that could be. It's possible others just refuse to trade and make it worthless.

In exploration news my scout has found the northern tip of the land and it's ugly. I'll post a screen of it later when I get home. After the desert there's a little bit of plains/grasslands and then it soon starts into tundra. Beyond the stone and gold in the desert there are no resources unless there are some water resources on east coast that I'll find on way down. So knowing now that Ruff is to my SE and pretty close (within 9 tiles likely) then I'm going to want to settle in the jungle soon if not with first settler.

I finished animal husbandry and started on the wheel. Horses popped in not too bad of spot to west of the stone. Which I should mention brings up the possibility of using my UU to take out Japan after the NAP provided he doesn't get spears in time.
