[Spoilers] Amelia, Tempest of the Seas

I suppose I'll ask the Lanun players...

Does Guybrush's sing ability actually do nothing?

It also causes you to rush for the mute button smile

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's totally useless, but the Lanun aren't really the most serious civ around.

Amelia, a couple more thoughts for you:

With Varn around, it's likely that he'll go straight for Chalid, who he'll get better use out of (thanks to the palace sun mana). I think that makes you getting to a different religion first even more important, so that you at least are assured an alternate hero. Also don't place too much emphasis on the importance of Chalid- you aren't fighting AI's, and so players will happily sacrifice mass numbers of units at terrible odds to kill your irreplaceable super unit. You also can always just stock up on a bunch of Tier II Veil priests or some Wind Mages if you really want a collaterol spell like Pillar of Fire.

Also another side benefit of researching toward the Veil is that if your civ is in serious danger of being eliminated at some point, as long as no one else has gotten to him first you can always take an "out" by summoning and then switching to Hyborem.

Also also I'd be really wary about Sunrise and Darrell. Darrell is very experienced at the game, and based on some of his earlier comments in my FFH PBEM I thread, I suspect they intend to beeline vampires, build as many death nodes as possible, and then drown the world in a flood of boosted specters. If you find them early on, you may want to consider shifting your tech to the boring Swords + Catapults combo to rush them.

Which is why i would be able to steal Chalid from under his nose :P

Now, i hate mages. I hate using them. I hate waiting for them to get enough XP to upgrade. Give me disiples, give me melee, give me siege. Throw away mages.

I honestly hate changing to Hyborem. I prefer sticking with my wonderful Lanun. Of course, as a last ditch resort...

Hmm... what about summoning Hyborem, not switching, then making Mercurials, and still not switch? :P

I hate mages too for the same reasons, they are a little better than seige though because they get mobility promos, can use Haste, and don't have a 20% chance of dying every time they attack. Oh, and they benefit from raiders, which is really important (otherwise you lose the benefit of the trait by having your melee units march only a tile per turn to escort the seige). You do usually have to plan pretty far in advance to use them though, getting adepts preppped & such.

Yeah I'm just suggesting Hyborem as a last-ditch manuever. If you're losing a war, get the Infernal Pact tech down to like one turn of research left, and then if it looks like you'll be eliminated or utterly crippled in the coming turns, make the switch.

You... probably could summon Basium and Hyborem, actually. Basium gives you free Earth Mana, Law Mana, and Iron, so he's actually really useful, if you don't mind giving up a productive city to the retarded AI. Maybe you could find a lurker to take over the Mercurians? Not sure that would be allowed. If you did summon Basium after Hyborem you'd have to decare war on Hyborem though (I think you automatically declare on any Veil civ) =)

Heh, it'll be fun though denying those 2 to any potential rushers, because once they rush and fail, they're left with nothing at all (double that for Hyborem, since they're abandoning the previous civ).

Ok, here are my current plans:

1) Get Ashen Veil, Summon Hyborem. This might be stopped based upon the results of the current discussion.

2) Summon Mercurial. This is a must, to stop rushers from getting them, and to get an ally i can trust. Hopefully Krill, since he's an expert on Military Matters and i need help badly in that sector.

3) Get Chalid and rock. My main battle plan centers around Chalid. I want to get Chalid and use him and destroy with him.

4) If i fail to get Chalid, i'll try for OO instead. Tsunami wielding Priests, Hemah, and Saverous are all good reasons, not to mention Stygian Guards.

5) If all fails (AKA both Chalid and Mercurial fails), i'll be aiming Ashen Veil and using Priests. Burn everything. Burn the people who denied me Chalid. Burn Chalid himself.
Burn Mercurial for refusing to join me. Burn the angels.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

With that said, let's look over the opponents and see their game plans, from the tech issue thread.

Sciz - Luchuirp - Very likely Runes of Kilmorph, heading towards Golems and Enchantment Adepts. Minor threat early, Medium threat late. I'm just not afraid of Golems especially if i have Chalid. Or even fire priests who can burn down the wood golems :P However, since i have no designs on Runes, he's free to take it.

Uberfish - Wood Elves - Fellowship of Leaves. Tell me anything else and i'll send that person to a FFH Hospital. No threat, i have no plans for Fellowship of Leaves anyway. If possible i would wish to work with them.

Ilios - Malakim - HIGH THREAT. He will rush Chalid, and he will do his best to stop others from getting Chalid. I need to stop him someway to get Chalid myself. Possibility of working together - Nil.

Serdoa - Balseraphs - .... err.... as much as i wish to say i know what he's planning, face it. They're crazy clowns. How do you try to understand what they do? I hope they're not aiming Mercurials themselves though. Most probably OO and going Hemah / Saverous.

Mist - Doviello - stay away from me! Lanun has absolutely 0 power early game, and if they start near me, i'm the first target. Even the Luchuirp are harder to crack then Lanun early game. Unless i have cities all over the world in the seas.

Darell/Sunrise - Calabrim - Vampires. What else? Rush CoL, get manors, rush Feudalism, get Vampires. High threat late, must kill early?

So, let's see whether any of this comes true in the end :D

Nice plan and leader reviews! My only comment is that if you do get Chalid first, you should figure out a way to get Varn's palace Sun Mana, through persuasion or force.

Oh and don't forget that Loki can enter your lands even without OB. If Serdoa builds him and is near you, you might want to pre-emptively declare war to prevent Loki from entering your city squares and razing culture-less cities.

If he tries to send in Loki he'll have Pirates raiding his base :P

Looks rich! I'd probably move the scout 1E, warrior 1NE, and then probably settle 1S unless the other two units reveal something interesting.
