FFH PBEM3?

Good points about settings. Showcasing the remaining civs for the lurkers in the FFH PBEM series is definitely a good idea but they don't all have to appear this game.

So far we have:

WarriorKnight
Bob
Reverend
Selrahc (?)
Mr. Yellow (are you on N?)

Sciz (patch O)

I'd also be interested in a dedicated lurker/teammate since I might not be able to play 100% of the time. Anyone want to join me? smile

I can lurk for you if you're happy with my ( doubious wink ) level of skill and ( somewhat shaky wink ) knowledge of the mod. I'm on patch 'O' but if it comes to turnplaying I can always clone the mod and have both versions concurently.

BTW, do you guys want a clone of the tracker we use for PBEM 2 or are you going for another method of tracking the save?

AFAIK, your tracker system is the only method I know that tracks FFH saves. If you would be willing to create a clone of it for this game I'm sure everyone would be extremely grateful.

I'll wait until 24 hours have passed from the first post to give everyone who wants to sign up a chance to do so. Then we can argue about settings and such.

i'm not sure about no-settler and barbarian world, seems like you have to be lucky to get barbarian cities in good spots, etc.

also IMO the best would be starting the 3rd PBEM with patch O when PBEM1 is finished. This is because if PBEM3 starts with patch N, this whole N vs O thing will just continue, PBEM3'ers won't be able to join PBEMs with patch O etc, wouldn't it just be best to get past this issue now instead of having it pop up later again?

Yeah. There's a reason some of these haven't been used. Elohim are not bad if there are some AIs in the game, but they're pretty weak if they have to rely exclusively on their own stuff. Bannor are potentially strong, but kind of generic. Grigori lose out on religion (although Selrahc did pretty with the agnostic Illians). Sheaim have all kinds of cool mechanics, but picking them is pretty much asking for a dogpile. Sidar and Amurites need lots of time to grow into their power. Clan are strong; not sure why no one has picked them yet.

I won't be able to play in this game, but I could be a dedicated lurker if anyone wants one.

I've currently got patch o installed, but I can nuke that and switch to patch n if that's what it takes for the majority to be able to play. My biggest concern is making sure that I can still play the Adventures without too much trouble. Still, I think Sciz has a strong point about avoiding unnecessary fragmentation of the community - if we can, we ought to aim to get everyone playing on the same patch so future events are easier to arrange.

Dantski, I'm pretty sure if you load the mod then hit the 'about' button, it'll tell you version number. I'm not at my civ computer to check, though.

On settings, my preference is to either allow all civs, or allow all but Calabim; we're far from seeing everything these civs can do. I would like settlers to be allowed ;-), in fact I'd prefer to stick with standard settings for now - I feel the place for the drastic experimentation with game mechanics is the Adventures, or at any rate not yet in PBEM.
