wow , everithing against us , we start with farming and fishing, and no fish, no farmable resourse.
Well i hope everyone got same start if not we are in real trouble, becasue will take along time to research what we need to make our cities worth.

Just as an update for our ( silent ) lurkers :

- finally another members of our tribe choose their path and join to our units as scouts ( I didn't moved them yet - Mack ... it's your choice to move them );
- our skilled workers managed to put some traps in the nearby area of our capitol ... our people are happy ( and their bellys are now filled with first quality meat ... yammy smoke );
- after a long journey through hills and forests our warior find ... still nothing ... just a small passage area to other new teritories ...

As a lurker I find the early game the most fascinating, especially on how folks play the map and then decide which techs research and cities to settle. Three paragraphs on every scouting warrior move is a bit amusing, but at this stage I'm curious if you are planning to pursue any wonders, given that you are industrious.

Don't know what to say in this moment ( considering that map which looks pretty ugly frown ).

Our main priority for the moment is to have a second city settled ... after this ... who knows ?
Initially we discussed about a possible attempt to build Stonehenge but seems that is no longer the case ... rolleye

Macedon and I had a chat this morning and we tried to establish some sort of plan ... considering how "strange" was Holland as a choice for this map ... rolleye

As a direction for the next turns :
- after the second warrior will be trained the next on queue is a settler;
- it depends on what the new warrior will reveal - but for the moment we intend to found the second city on the hill near cows from South of our capital;
- don't know yet what tech to research next ...
a) Mysticism + an attempt to build Stonehenge is still considered as an option ( we are industrious so basically will sacrifice another early settler for it but will gain easier border expansion on cities after this ... while he capitol will still grow in population up to 5 );
b) Wheel is the second choice ... if some horse will be revealed when AH research will be completed.

That's all for the moment ... still try to discover further the map ... smile

As an update : we started production of a settler in capital and choose Mysticism as our next tech ( will be completed in 8 turns ).

Let's see what will happen next ... bang

Another update : we meet luddite's team and exchanged two emails with him.

Here is what we received :

Quote:It looks like my scout has just found your warrior. If you continue north for a while you'll find my capital, so welcome. I must ask you not to move right next to, though. You'll also find that Parkin's warrior is just above my scout- I'm sure he'll want to say hello to you too.

With three industrious civs next to each other, it makes sense for us to discuss which wonders we'll build. Are you planning on taking advantage of your org/ind traits to build the Great Lighthouse? My current plan is to build the Oracle.
Also, I was wondering where you're located relative to me. Since your warrior is coming up from the south, are you located directly to the south? And, is there a direct land connection? I haven't scouted that direction yet.

An additional note - his scout was on a hill ... where a gold resource is located. For that reason and because I belived/hope that the map is quite balanced ... probably the distance to capital is quite big - not as suggested in underlined paragraph ... but probably this is sort of a test ... rolleye

On other hand - he indicate Oracle as a priority so probably in fact he plans a Metal Casting -> Colossus slingshot. lol
As long as Stonehenge is a always an early and risky attempt ( and there are alot of other industrious civs ) ... I prefer not to lie it but not to mention this for the moment ...

Another ( quick ) update : our west-scout discovered the borders of Sleeping Moogle's Civilization - Babylon if I'm remember well.

No contact/email was yet sent - I'm waiting for Macedon to establish a common message for this new-discovered neighbour. smile

Babylon isn't too far from us ... I'm quite tempted in this moment to propose to Macedon an "industrious-bluffing" strategy - while other players will assume that we will be part of "wonder-orgy group" choose a different approach : research wheel next, produce 2-3 chariots and ... :mad:
With our current ( sub-optimal for this map ) civilisation this could be an interesting choice. tongue

Apparently Macedon already responded ... rolleye

Here is the message we received from Sleepingmoogle :

Quote:After rousing from my slumber, a Dutch scout was spotted near our border. The poor fellow seems rather flabbergasted by his discovery, but we wish him no ill and would like to send our warm greetings to you. Given that you are the first civilization that we have met so far, we hope that an exchange of information can be agreed upon for the good of both our peoples.

Pleasant dreams,
-SleepingMoogle
Patriarch of the first tribe of Somnus

and here is the response elaborated by Macedon :

Quote:Tank you for the nice words, yes indeed our scout would enjoy a good sleep, and a nice meal( dear of course), to bad no one of us doesn"t know to write so he can get all of this.
I realy would like to exchange information about the map ,we are comming from west and we discovered an interesting land with resoursces,and a sea wich is between us .
As i saw in your other game"s you are a good buider so i think you will agree that we should work togeter .
I dont know the policy about the screenshots but like a sign a good faith can show you what i discovered between us.
I want to propose you a long NAP(until turn 100) , but I wait for other offer.
I know that we are considered having low chnces to win this one lets work togheter to prove to other wrong.
Best regards,
Mackoti

Hmmm ... interesting ... rolleye

Sleepingmoogle respond to Macedon's email - here is his response :

Quote:Greetings Mackoti,

We are happy to supply your Scout with some venison and a comfortable bedroll to help him on his journey. A quick point of clarification though.. did you indicate in your message that your civilization is located to the west of ours, or that your Scout is headed in that direction? It wasn't quite clear, but knowing this would help us provide directions.

Either way, we can trade maps if desired (the agreed upon rules for this game are listed in the first post of the signup thread in case you're curious. :-) ), and I would welcome an exchange of maps and other relevant information to help foster good relations between our people. We are not by nature warlike (such aggression is dreadfully disruptive to our rest) so a NAP is an interesting proposal. The length seems a bit excessive this early in the game though.. would a NAP lasting until turn 50, with the option of extending it on mutual agreement be acceptable to you instead?

Pleasant dreams,
-SleepingMoogle
Patriarch of the first tribe of Somnus

Maybe somebody could give me a hint here ( from other played/lurked games on Normal speed ) - but I feel, maybe an a little paranoid manner, that a 50-turns-only-NAP is ... somehow strange : quite close to the period in which I estimate that a settler + few chariots could be produced ... bang

As another update : Macedon computer is broken and he could check the forum & the game itself infrequently ... if he show no activities until this evening I'll accept the NAP-offer from SleepingMoogle but I'll still wait for the map-exchange. smile
