Not very, unfortunately. With the old maintenance bug it would save you 2g/turn, but that was fixed long ago. I think you guys should go for Ramsses. Seriously, he's fun and different and you are all up for a nice challenge.

In which case, welcome. Not that we needed any help with the thread post count race, but we should be crowned winners now I think.

Ramesses II is Spiritual/Industrious for those, like me, who had to look him up.

With what? Mali? Maya?

Civic upkeep percent is 80 on noble, 90 on prince, 95 on monarch and 100 on emperor+. So basically, the -50% civic upkeep discount doesn't get any more useful than this, but it's still not very useful as you can see from comparison to other difficulties.

My main beef with organized is that it's really boring, to be honest. Though maybe if lighthouses look good I'd be willing to go for it.

By the way, corps are on. Corp maintenance is 30% higher on emperor than on noble.

Sweet!

Some beaker costs for a standard/emperor map:

41 Hunting/Fishing
52 Mining/Mysticism
62 Agriculture/The Wheel

83 Pottery/Meditation
104 Animal Husbandry/Polytheism
125 Bronze Working

Also, Commodore from the organizing thread:

Quote:Okay, just a quick note, whatever your starting techs, each player will have both a scout and a warrior to start. Boats will be nice on this map, but all players are on the same landmass.

If we're going restricted I suggest Joao of Portugal.

I think we have lots of options for civ even if we settle in the strongest initial location 1E on the plains hill (2f/4h immediately). The reason is, the only worker tech we need is hunting and that's a really fast research.

If we want to settle on the western plains hill W-SW instead, we want to start with agriculture so we can research hunting-AH.

There are also a couple other places we could plan to settle which I'm less enthusiastic about. However I don't feel that I'm that good at choosing city locations. Thoughts?

I was thinking Agri/Wheel and settle where the warrior is.

So there's food, but there's not loads of food, which means that Phi is going to be less viable potentially. I do quite fancy Spi given that we're going to want flexibility in a diplo game. So I'm currently leaning towards Isabella.

Either discussed city site looks ok - we can move the warrior 1S and the scout NE or NW-NE for a better view of the BFCs.
