Adventure 52 Ronald's report

Did you attack Toku BEFORE Qin? If so why?

I attacked Qin first, but he had a city in the west of Toku. This one I only took after eliminating Toku and at this time Qin was vassal to Boudica

Yeah Qin vassalised to Boudy for me too but I pretty much ignored it and took him out anyway. Both Mansa and Cyrus hated her so no OB to send troops.

Hey Ronald,

As you probably saw, I settled in place, trusting in T-Hawk lol

Reviewing your early game, looks like you lucked out by Qin going towards Toku with his first city. In my game, he settled 1W of the sheep near your Tiwanaku on T33 (!) in my game - whereas you were able to settle your 2nd city on T45.

Then because you were able to block off Qin with only 2 cities, you were able to put your 3rd north towards Mansa, whereas I had to struggle to get that marble.

I also put my Moai in the same spot (though my city was 1E due to Shanghai). I settled my Huamanga 1S and turned it into my Globe city which worked well with all that food (I didn't have a city to its SW that used the corn)

Nice job on the domination victory! thumbsup I kind of wanted to go domination but didn't really have much time (I just played the game this past weekend).

If you wouldn't mind some constructive criticism on your report - having all those images with little text makes it kind of difficult to read. Of course it is the same if you have too much text and not enough pictures, so it can be hard to strike the balance. At least in my opinion, just dumping tons of charts or city screens with 1 line about each one is not very useful. If you want to show off your cities - just take one overview shot and mention each city (or at least the important ones). I don't always report well (especially for this adventure when I was hurrying to get it in before the deadline) but when you edit your pictures to try and tell a story, I think that the effort shows.

Anyways, just some thoughts - congratulations again on your win!

Hi Ronald, I didn't notice that you had edited in your report posts and missed reading it till now. smile

The starting area was pretty much untouched from the random generation. I noticed that there were options: stay in place, or move for lake or river or ivory access, so it looked pretty good as an adventure.

Looked like a pretty good game indeed. In building those early wonders, was the espionage information useful at all? Or were you just winning the races for them anyway? But it looks like the spying sure helped you plan out the wars later.

I think you can indeed win by conquest when you have vassals. But you can also win by domination. In fact, you probably won both conditions on the same turn, and the game just checked for domination first. smile (By the way, the 1.5 million points was the result of a bug, see my comments in regoarrarr's thread.)
