Possible Candidate for Old Forum Style

Agreed.

I'm currently only focused on getting a darker theme option to add as an option alongside the lighter current theme, not to replace it. Though I agree Kjn's mockup looks nice for trying to incorporate the old colors.

The logo at the top? It should be the same resolution as the current one, I pulled it straight from there. There might just be some added pixelation from changing the background color.

Good going BRick and kjn! Good to have you 2 finding your ways around MyBB, it will come in very handy when we skin the thing for real. I've only started to look at themes and global.css so I am a little behind on the effort. However, I refuse to color it myself, or approve any schemes until I get my hands on my new monitor which should arrive within the day or two. I will probably have remade the essential graphics by then, waiting to make proper color adjustments. I will provide interested parties the package that includes the graphics and various color schemes.

PS: but yes, only the classic RB colored theme will be officially supported until we have more time to work on the others.

Through a combination of a Chrome extension and forum settings. the forums currently look like this for me:

Just the way I want it, aaah. (Yes, I want fixed width column for easier reading on a massive resolution display. I will probably make the forums end up looking very similar to this after whatever theme you people decide on. CSS-buttons would be nice as well, since that would mean I would get greater control over how everything is displayed for me.

Also, I would be available to help mod a theme to suit the community's taste.

Note that fluid width is easily combined with max-width of a suitably large value (probably circa 1200-1500px, if we use those values).

For myself, I prefer to simply have smaller windows than messing with styling for that, but then I'm an old Mac user at heart. Having a large display is nice, because you can show more of different stuff there, not simply more of the same old stuff.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

This is what I have so far on RBClassic, but obviously not done yet. I need to get back to the other stuff :P

I think the absolutely best thing to do would be to break out the colour scheme from the global.css.

Basically, we would have a single style sheet that only contained the differences between the dark and light themes. Everything else would be exactly the same, and preferably use exactly the same files. Would make maintenance a lot easier.

That sounds really good.

For what it's worth I really do like the darker background, so much easier on the eyes for me.

That would defeat the whole purpose of a tabbed interface which any decent and modern browser has.
