Okay, here's the way an army of the 6 new counters looks. Not perfect, but livable I think. Changing base hero chance to 5% (which works out to 2% at fame 0, since only 10/25 heroes can actually be hired), and time to try playing.
It would appear that I didn't create an LBX image editor for naught!!

I used breath weapons for a lot of caster heroes (Lightning Breath is actually just called Lightning..) because I needed to give them something useful they could do, and I'm tired of the primary value of casters being ranged attacks with huge max ammo.

Analyzing and modifying the code is more my thing.
... and I'm quite willing to play with heroes that do not have flags... if it really bothers me I may even fix it.
So, I've been idling on doing any further work, in part because some things I was trying didn't work right, but I think what I have is currently working (other than the hero changes, it has a couple nerfs to white spells -- prayer doesn't add to attack rolls, heroism is +1 level and may not totally work at the moment). Where do people prefer to upload that sort of thing?
So, I decided to actually make my work available. I didn't upload any of the files I hadn't changed, and this is a modified Insecticide, so you'll need to replace files in an existing copy of MoM (I suggest creating a new clean copy and then dropping in place). No changes that aren't in this thread.
I made portraits for the heroes in this excellent mod that I felt needed a new one. I tried to make them match the in-game depictions of the various races and not stand out too much from the original portraits. I also changed the warlock graphics to that of a Nightmare rider.

Janus in fact has no traits other than the fact he's twins (he'll also get traits shown if he acquires them from an external source, such as spells or items).
