So that makes four. I'd like to see if we get one more before going ahead though. I'll re-download GMR.
Seven, how do you go about setting a game up?
Also, if there's anyone out there who would like to play mapmaker, please step forward. I have a fairly good idea of what settings would be best for this, but it depends on whether or not we get a mapmaker.

From what I remember, you all get set up in a game on GMR. Then player 1 starts a new hotseat game.
I don't know if it's possible to use a pre-made or even pre-checked map.

Random map for the win!
I'm eager to start the game, so someone should sign quickly to give us our 5th player. Can't wait to pick my Civ!

Seven, while I have your attention, do you know how the DLC civs work in GMR? i.e. - does everybody have to have the same dlcs for one player to use the civ.
For reference, the DLC civs are:
Mongolia (Free, so if you don't have it you should get it)
Babylon
The Inca
Denmark
Korea
Polynesia

As far as I know, everybody have to have the DLC for a player to use it. You can enable and disable DLCs in the game, though.
I have G&K and all the DLC (Spain is also DLC, as far as I know - Banylon too, I think). Hopefully we can play G&K, not really worried about the other DLCs.

So, GMR is an outside tool? As for the game itself, everything in or something banned? I have no clue what that could be as I have no clue about Civ5, but maybe we learned something from the first Civ5-MP-game we had on the site? What I could think of:
Every Civ in?
RAs in?
Oh, and I assume we would play with G&K-expansion, right? Are there still issues with different game-versions depending on DLCs or stuff like that?
I'm generally up for play and would play under whatever settings (edit: except G&K, I really would want that in) though, as written above, just asking because I believe to remember something from the first game that was considered ban-worthy.

Since we're going random map, here are the settings I'd suggest:
Pangaea
Small
Prince Difficulty
5-City States (One for each player)
Barbs On
No Ancient Ruins
Difficulty does not matter significantly unless we go below Prince. Above it, the only change for our game would be the barbarian bonus which ranges from 33% on Prince to 0% on Deity. The only other effect is the bonuses enjoyed by the city-states which are too numerous to list here.
I thought long and hard about cutting city-states out. However, I think they need to stay in to keep patronage and CS-centered civs viable. However, I think the number needs to be reduced to one for each player to make it harder to spam out city-state alliances to win.
Small and Pangaea both seem like no-brainers with the number of players we have. If we get five, we go high sea level small, if we stay stuck at four, we go tiny.
No ancient ruins so nobody gets a culture pull for a massive advantage.
I need to think more on a ban list before posting anything definitive. The bans I'm considering at the moment are:
Desert Folklore (definitely.)
France
Mongolia

If we are banning things, let's ban Spain. It's an all or nothing civ, boring either way.
I'd prefer playing with more city states and huts. If we are going for a casual game, I don't mind having Imba things all around. But I defer the decision to people with more experience.
