Yeah, I bought a Total War game, and I think I'm going to buy the DLC for Hearts of Iron III as well as this shooter called 'Verdun'. I'm excited; I've been saying there should be a First World War shooter for years!

I want to buy a RPG with a good story and good writing, but I'm not thrilled by anything I see. I recently tried Fallout 3, that I bought in a previous sale, now that I have a new PC, but it seems a bit meh.
The best reviews I've read are about Divinity: Original Sin. Anyone played that already?
Well, guess I'm looking for a book, not a game.

Try Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines or Witcher 2.

Oh, and Walking Dead is definitely close to the "book with a good story" kind of game.

I already played Vampire. Very interesting game, indeed. And I actually own witcher 2, but never really played it (on a XBOX 360, not PC). So, I guess I'll try that, thanks.
The Walking Dead games are point and click, right?

Kind of, yeah. The gameplay is a mix of:
- Choosing what to say and what to do (your actions have consequences)
- QTE's in action scenes (they are not hard)
- Point and click when moving around in a hub, where you can go talk to people or inspect things. There are puzzles but nothing ridiculous like in old school games.
I think you'd really like the Walking Dead. It's also much easier to get into than Witcher 2.

Divinity is a good game, but it doesn't really develop your character story in any real depth

Divinity II is also really good.

I really enjoyed my time with that game.
It certainly is deeply flawed (uninspired and unbalanced skills, random drops in a closed game... which ends up not mattering since gear turns out to be largely a non factor, etc...), but the atmosphere, the music, and the sense of freedom made for a very pleasant experience.
Story-wise, I guess I'm also one of the rare players to have truly appreciated the end twist (forums had a lot of unhappy people about it)... and deplored its reversal in the expansion to the game.
That said, if you scratch the surface, plot holes and major inconsistencies are blatant (but well, that's also the case for most major popular TV series / movies anyway).
My biggest beef with the story is that in spite of its inventiveness, it remains the same old "low nobody becomes a legendary hero with god-like powers in a matter of a few days and has to save the world".
Missed opportunity: with the opening chapter they had, they could simply have had a great story about... merely saving your own skin.
By the way, I have exactly the same issue with The Witcher 2: clearing his name should have been enough for a great storyline.
