I did some testing with fishing/mining and we can get AH 1 turn after the worker finishes if we go directly for a worker after work boat finishes,so we can grow for 1 turn before starting the worker, this means we can grow to size 2 the turn we finishes the pasture. I do like how it worked out like that.
Out of the fishing and mining civs,I do like Rome,England is ok but Carthage and Portugal is just meh. Maybe we can go Imperialistic for the synergy with Rome and England (cheaper market and banks )
Gonna try out more openings....

Fishing obviously is a must here. After that I will need AH. Agriculture/hunting as the second starting tech is prefered if we pick an AGR or PRO leader,so we can hook up the cow as soon as the worker is finished.
After that is bronze working, then pottery.Techs will be slow because I need both AH and fishing so early. This means I can pretty much forget about early religions or the oracle.
I find this post in the set up thread interesting:

I don't want to delay the game any, but can I at least wait until tonight to make my pick? My start has me quite stumped as for my leader pick, and I'd like to think about it a bit. Unfortunately, I wasted a bit of my morning on writing some posts and now I actually have to do work throughout the afternoon!
He's stumped? Why is he stumped?Obvious his start isn't just a farming resource and a pasture resource. My guess is his start is similar to mine,or at least he need fishing too.Does this mean everybody have a fishing start?I doubt it,but this could mean multiple people have fishing starts and picking a good fishing civ could be very important.
I am 3rd pick here,so if I pick a leader first I might not get a fishing civ. That would be....not good.Something to keep in mind if I want to be on the safe side. Or I could just say YOLO and just pick whatever leader I felt like playing.

some screenshot of the sandbox with different traits,I simmed till the first settler cant do more without revealing more of the map first:
Washington (exp/chm)
Boudica (AGR/chm)
Wang Kon (PRO/fin)
Tokugawa (AGR/PRO)
Tokugawa growing to size 4
Workboat start is almost always better in terms of foodhammers,I will only build one worker before the settler(nothing worthwhile to do if I get two),AGR and PRO does help me get started faster (Tokugawa gets started really fast),but when would the other traits start to catch up?Well it's really hard to say,and I dont know the answer. I still want to play a AGR,CHM or PRO leader though.Tokugawa with a T24 settler does sound tempting......

And he picks the Khmer, shows how wrong I am lol.
The Khmer ballista elephants is just...extremely niche in its usage. The baray is just too expensive to build in most cities, you might just build one in your capital early on and that's it. Is he picking this civs for the techs (hunting/mining)?I would have loved to try out the new Russia(university replacement with 1 scientist) or the new Germany(strength 14 grenadiers).Granted they both come later in the game,so it's understandable if he's picking it for the techs.

I picked Boudica,so we need an agriculture(or hunting)/fishing civ.
I don't like either the dutch or americans as their uniques comes late. But what does people think about dog soldiers?I think they are kinda weak, even odds on atk vs chariots and just gets destroyed by horse archers.

Final decision before the game starts:
Picking a CIV
the picks so far:
Lord Parkin - Churchill of Zulu(CHM/PRO,agri/hunt)
HitAnyKey - Wang Kon of Spain(FIN/PRO,fish/myst)
Haram - Ragnar of Mongolia(FIN/AGR,hunt/wheel)
Mackoti - Charlemagne of Germany(IMP/PRO,hunt/mine)
SevenSpirits - Pericles of Russia(CRE/PHI,hunt/mine)
Gavagai - Willem van Oranje of Ethiopia(FIN/CRE,hunt/mine)
slowcheetah - Napoleon of Vikings(CHM/ORG,fish/hunt)
Douglas Quaid - ??? of Egypt(agri/wheel)
Gawdzak - Boudica of ???(AGR/CHM)
Kuro/Wetbandit - Tokugawa of ???(AGR/PRO)
GermanJojo - ??? of Khmer(hunt/mine)
Wow that's a lot of people with hunting here,7 out of 9 people so far have picked a hunting civ. This is not good for me because unless I take a hunting civ myself,I will be behind most people on scouting (scouts are 1 move unless hunting is researched). If I get unlucky and lose my scout on T6 or something,I would be very screwed. Only 1 have picked a fishing civ, does almost everyone have a hunting food resource and an AH food resource?Or does people have ivory/fur,an AH resource and a farming resource?
Now looking at my starting screen again.

The one fogged land tile got to be a resource tile right?I only have 2 resources and one is a fish, and I highly doubt Krill would give me horses or copper in my starting BFC. So it could be more food (doubtful) or an luxury. I think fur are usually in a forest or tundra,so ivory/wine/calender resource would most likely be the case if it's there.
Now I already said I dont like any of the fish/agri civs and viking is taken. I want the option to go either hunting->AH first or agri->AH first. So I will take a fish/mining civ.Probably will take Rome here, and actually get a good unique unit compared to my other options even though it slows the start slightly.

Gawdzak - Boudica of Rome(AGR/CHM,fish/mine)
Kuro/Wetbandit - Tokugawa of India(AGR/PRO,mine/myst)
GermanJojo - Cyrus of Khmer(CHM/IMP,hunt/mine)
Pick list.
So why the hell did I pick Boudica of Rome. After seeing my start,I realized I needed fishing. This severely limited my options. This start will definitely punish bad starting techs. So that rules out India and Byzantium which I was considering. I picked Boudica because I wanted to try out the changes to CHM and AGR and I liked that there is synergy between the traits. I could choose to either grow my city tall with my extra food or whip more liberally with the food.
The Roman Praetorians are changed in this mod. They are now a strength 7 swordsman. That sounds like a significant nerf at first. But then swordsmen are buffed to have combat 1,and loses the city attack bonus. I went in game to check and found that Praetorians actually now cost 40 hammers instead of 45 hammers in base BTS. In addition, now it's easier to promote praetorians to shock/formation.So I think Praetorians are still one of the best unique units in the mod.
Personally I'm not all that sure about how I feel about playing Rome. While Praetorian are a good unit, having Praetorians often leads people to make bad decisions in the game,ie. attacking people when you really shouldn't and thus falling behind in expansion/tech.So I will have to be careful not to do that here.
Some thoughts on the other player's picks:
There is ZERO Industrious leaders in this game!So wonders will probably go later than normal and chances of getting a wonder are higher for everyone. This actually have the potential to be very bad.
Imagine this,Seven builds the oracle at T60,takes metals casting. He builds a forge in a 2nd city and run an engineer for 15 turns and then uses that to rush the mids at T75. He can keep running an engineer and get another great engineer and rushes another wonder. That would be...very scary. And it wouldnt be that hard to pull off. With CRE and PHI traits,I'm sure he could do wonders if he gets the mids.
There are 4 Financial leaders here, looks like FIN is still highly valued.I'm not sure I made the best pick tbh,I look at what other people have and I wished that I had what they have.

T0 Report
The game starts!! I logged in and SIP since scout won't find anything useful regarding capitol placement.
No hidden resources in the capital,oh well.
I moved my scout north towards the corn,NW next turn.
I decided to change my naming scheme to one of the greatest modern day social phenomenons:
