Definitely. Depends on map size, but really cheap units for MP can make an early play for HR really powerful especially as with exp you will have extra health. However they are nice just if you have a big empire. Almost half the hammer cost of archers (which need the limited use archery), and if you have a lot of no chance to be attacked cities then they are good for that too!
Finally, if you want a GG unit, the free combat 1 is always nice especially if you are making a CR3 upgrade to a rifle (is that free promo removed in this mod though?)
It is a solid UU that whilst won't really give you a combat edge, can give you an eco edge.

Didn't Qetchua lose C1 at some point in the mod's iterations ? And thought there was no Pro/Org ?

Who knows anymore! I've lost track and post the changes to the front of the game thread to know where I am at with whatever game I'm in...

yeah, pretty sure they lost CI. But still - free upgrade is a free upgrade.
No, being able to build those things until, what... gunpowder? is an enormous advantage. HR becomes a must-have. if for no other reason than it becomes really hard for people to burn your cap out of the fog if you have 8 warriors in it

Until you can build maces and pikes I believe. Not 100% sure.

The most important post of the game:
OPPONENT ANALYSIS!!!
In no particular order:
Jowy - Ramseses (Spiritual, Industrious) of India (Fast Worker, Jail),
Jowy is a bit of a punching bag at RB, for a couple of reasons. He's got a rep as a bit of a warmonger and not being all that good at it, and he, frankly, has weird logic about when people should sue for peace and what they should ask for. He seems to think that people should react with logic as he defines it. I don't mean this to be Jowy bashing, cause from what little I can tell, he seems to be a good guy. But he and I clashed in PB9 and I never did understand his offers for peace - he kept demanding concessions from me after I smashed his invading army with very few casualties.
Oddly, he picked 2 traits that are unchanged in this mod, and a civ that is nearly unchanged. It's a good combo - he's the only one with those traits - being the only industrious civ is a nice advatnage. I presume he'll pick up stonehenge. he has no expansion traits and spiritual is tricky to use correctly. My guess is that he gets out to a slow start, but picks up a relatively early religion and shrine and rides that to... something. Perhaps wonder whoring, I dunno.
Sian - Shaka Zulu. Agg/Exp of Ikhanda/Impi. The first of 2 restricted leaders in the game, he'll have fewer expenses than anyone. Being the only aggressive civ will help him. Impi are nice and useful, depending on how big the map is. Sian has played a lot. I apparently was his neighbor in PBEM35 - I am pretty sure he got his ass handed to him, because I don't think he was the guy who invaded us, though I'm not sure. He doesn't post a lot, it seems and I think he's a middling player. But then, this is a middlin field. I'll mark his as the favorite for now. He'll do ok in expansion and start to catch up with tech after the expansion phase. Wierdly, he has the most dangerous UU in the game.
autoarcher - Joao of Portugal. Imp/Exp of Carrack/Feitoria. Mr Expansion. Fast workers and fast settlers and a crashed economy. Feitoria is ok, but he's not going to get any foreign trade routes. Carrack can be dangerous. I have no idea how good he is. If he's not in first after the expansion phase, he'll finish last. My guess is that his being conquered will then result in concesision by the two guys who didn't conquer him. But that's a pure guess.
me - Mao of Inca. (exp/pro of Terraces and cheap MP). I wanted to try a power combo in this game. I see 4 elements important to expansion - settlers, workers, granaries and border pops - and this combo gets 3 of those 4. Autoarcher gets 2, Sian gets 1.5 (cheap barracks), Jowy gets .5 (stonehenge) and I get 2.5. I am kind of done after that. If I'm not in first at the end of the expansion phase, I'm in trouble too - just like autoarcher. However, if the game goes into gunpowder, I do have an advantage with protective rifles.
My initial ranking is Sian, me, Jowy, autoarcher, but Jowy and I are probably pretty close and Sian may be better or worse than us.

Hey! We have a game!!!
My plan had been to move to the coast, so I sent my scout south to see what that looked like and found this:
Huh - Silver and gold right near by? nice!!
Also, my original screen shot did not show the clams, so that's a nice bonus!!
Dialed up a 10 turn worker (gotta love expansive) and picked Hunting as my next tech and off we go!! I'm planning, right now, to go huning->wheel->pottery to get a very early granary - there aren't all that many forests here. so chopping isn't great, but we seem to have a couple of luxuries, so whipping is good and an early granary will help with that. And with a 2 hammer city and a 3 hammer cow, I'll get that in time to grow to size 2.
My known world:
Lots of resources in this world...

Huh. I could have gone 1S and gotten both the silver and the gold in my cap, at the expense of not being coastal. I don't mind not doing it - I mind that it didn't occur to me.

Not much to report on turn 1.
climbed the gold hill and found... more hill.
I did change the name of my cap to Silverado. I dunno if my theme will be westerns, 80's movies or Kevin Costner movies, but those are my top choices for now. I know, such important decisions. In any case, Silverado is one of my favorite movies. Great cast - Costner, Kevin Kline, Scott Glenn, Danny Glover, Jeff Goldblum, Brian Dennehy, Rosanna Arquette, John Cleese, Earl Hindman's entire face (he played Wilson on Home Improvement). Anyway - highly recommend it to anyone who has never seen it and likes western's. Even if you hate Kevin Costner
Demos:
someone is researching a 2nd level tech, I presume BW.
